Just finished putting this together as a nice little base for my turntable. I think the turntable likes it.

I decided to wait after I saw they were set to arrive March 23.

Yep, that is pretty much what we had today and will have for the weekend.

Happy Birthday, DQ!

Exactly correct. I would just rather use my time futzing around listening to music, rather than futzing around getting ready to listen to music.

Audiophile network switch

I think I will stick to my somewhat less expensive Netgear switches. I’ll just have to learn to live without the air guitars and air batons. -
Agreed! Why the fuck did they not use a USB-C connector. Sounds like there is a mole working at Apple.

Happy Birthday, Todd!

I also agree with Nate. I sold my table saw before we left Illinois. I replaced it with a Makita track saw and have not missed the table saw. The track saw is much easier to store and I do not find it any more cumbersome to set up.

If it was me I would go for the Air with the increased RAM. I actually have come to dislike the touch bar on my Pro but I do like Touch ID (which the new M1 Air has). If I replace my 13” Pro, it will be with the M1 Air not the M1 Pro.

Craig is correct it comes with the Elys-2 cartridge, which I am fine with as a start, and maybe it will be a great cartridge. In my limited research it appears the Rega three-point system is meant to make cartridge alignment easier/more exact and make it more rigid. Not everyone agrees with the first idea so there are suggestions out there to perform a standard two screw alignment and then just add the third screw for rigidity. I have no opinion on that at this time but I am sure I will develop one.

Lots of good suggestions. I probably won't buy anything until after Christmas, unless some great deal comes along. Right now I am leaning towards either the Rega or Project TTs. I do like the simplicity of the Technics (and my Dual was direct-drive) but I do not mind a little futzing as that is part of the charm.

Which Rega do you have Marc? I have been looking at the current Planar 3. It looks like a pretty solid table.

So I was driving back from Peter's tennis lesson and out of nowhere he says, "We should get a turntable". Well it was good thing he was driving as I would have likely driven off the road in shock. Not only did he want me to buy a turntable, but he actually called it a turntable and not a record player. After I recovered a bit, I asked him why we should buy one and his response was, "Vinyl is cool". So I feel I really have to buy a table so as not to stifle any potential budding audiophilia. My problem is I owned exactly one turntable my whole life, a Dual CS-721 bought in 1977 and given away (along with almost all of my vinyl) when we left Illinois in 2016. At that time I had not planned an analog return so I do not know what exists for a good quality, H-C approved table. Therefore, I am looking for any and all recommendations. I will hook it up through the NAD M-12 which has the ability use a turntable and has selectable MM or MC settings so all I need now is the turntable, although the slope is already feeling a bit slick.

Ceramic rattlesnake inherited from my grandparents.

So I shifted the Teac into the main headphone system in place of the NAD M51: So now I can use my Two Little Bears (Passive XLR switchers) to shift between the Mytek or Teac as input and the GS-X, DHSA or BHse as output:

And another series of big thank yous to Andrew, DOTU Al and Ken. As Nate said NFLO!

You guys are too quick for me. Big thanks to Antonio, Aimless Al, Todd S, Nate (and Lily and Andrew) and Chris. You're the best.

I am not sure it sounds any better, but it is a keeper for me because it runs cooler with the external PSU.

It was more a rhetorical response to indicate my extreme distaste for anything Adobe.

So I am necrobumping this thread from 7!!! years ago. This year is a bit different in a few ways. First, the Marathon will be run in virtual mode. Everyone runs it locally on their own and provides proof using their tracking tech. Secondly, this will be run both by Karen and Peter. Lastly, they are running a half-marathon rather than a full marathon. For my health’s sake I will not expound on the reasons for this. Anyway, anyone who would care to donate to St. Judes, your support would be gratefully appreciated. They will be running their half next weekend so it is coming up fast. You can donate as long as the page is active which should be at least until 12/9. Here is a link to Peter’s (The Boy Wonder) PAGE. Thanks in advance.
