  1. Decided to take the advice of The West Coast Legal Team™ and have a Corpse Reviver #2
  2. I use SAS for mainstream stuff and R for not-so-mainstream stuff. Parallels 6 has a nice iPad app for remote connections.
  3. Nice experimentation Shelly! Decided to take my own advice
  4. Two full size Vespers. One with Gale Force and one with North Shore 11. Karen preferred the Gale Force so that worked well for both of us.
  5. Summer in academia does have it's perks.
  6. That is probably a good thing as SPSS sucks.
  7. If there is room I'm in. I should be no threat as I am a fan of "Da Bears".
  8. Tipsy double post.
  9. Just got back from the John Boos factory showroom and outlet where we ordered a new cherry top for our kitchen island.
  10. Nice! Hope to be there in a couple of weeks.
  11. Don't get me wrong, I have drunk every one of those sometime in my life, but I am not going to waste the space in that refrigerator to keep those "beers" cold. That is an Edgestar. Marvel also makes a 15" unit but I could not justify a cost 3x that of the Edgestar.
  12. Damn, I do like the look of the Regas. Nice Ric.
  13. Aahh, you are progressing well young Padawan. First make sure to realize that modern Lillet Blanc has a different, sweeter and less bitter, flavor compared to the older Kina Lillet. In cocktails that call for Kina Lillet, a good substitute is Cocchi Americano. For Lillet Blanc cocktails, one of my favorites is the Bourbon Dynasty. 2 oz Bourbon 1 oz Lillet (white) 1 tsp crème de cassis 2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters lemon peel (garnish) Stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Twist a piece of lemon peel over top, releasing the oils and drop in drink.
  14. A bit of in experimentation. First as the essence of a dry Martini. Gale Force is very mild and subdued, reminds me a bit of Plymouth. North Shore 6 has the most complex herbal flavorings and the most bite. North Shore 11 has less bite and the herbal taste is less up front. Where you want the flavor of the gin to come through, i.e. a Martini, the winner is North Shore 6. Next we have three mini Vespers. The Gale Force is lost in the Vesper and North Shore 6 dominates the Cocchi Americano. Winner here is the North Shore 11. Very well balanced and you first notice the gin flavors but the Cocchi is not lost and makes a nice complex finish.
  15. Impressive selection Shelly. Have fun.
  16. Not as nice as the one in Mayberry, but I was limited to less than 18 inches wide. Note: Stock photo. Not my beverages.
  17. Yay. Cool Monkey is cool
  18. So Al, which is better traditional or Bonal Vieux Carre? The less sweetness with the Bonal is intriguing me. Edit: Oops you slipped in the description as I was typing this. Question answered
  19. I do all the laundry in our household, so I control all separating of laundry and all drying times. Less long term stress.
  20. Hendricks has a cucumber and a bit of pepper taste to it. The Gale force has more juniper (but not like Junipero) flavor. Hendricks to me is an outlier among gins flavor wise. Not that that is a bad thing or I wouldn't have a bottle of Hendricks in the house. When I was getting back into gin, both Shelly and Al suggested using a Blanc vermouth rather than dry when making a Hendricks Martini. That was an excellent suggestion. I've drunk quite a bit of gin out of all kinds of non approved glassware, just not very good gin and not recently.
  21. I like the Gale Force, not as refined as Blackwoods but I want to do a taste-off with North Shore 6 and 11.
  22. The Happiest of Birthdays to you Antonio. Pedro Ximénez FTW.
  23. Good choice when dealing with repair people.
  24. Happy Birthday to you Steve!
