  1. Amphenol FTW Edit: But since the OT of this discussion is about using video cable for audio I don't think it really matters what connector you use.
  2. Why would the current still be limited to what it was at 120v when the transformer is rated for power? Wouldn't it's power limit still be that same? Obviously taking into account the wire gauge was sufficient for the current.
  3. Cryo is no laughing matter.
  4. It will have the same voltage as the connected primary. But I am guessing he will be running the primaries in series so they both should be connected.
  5. Just change all your plugs to BNC and be done with it. And make sure they are cryo'ed.
  6. Transformers are rated in VA so as the voltage goes down the current handling would go up. At least this is the way I understand it.
  7. I would think that the secondary current could be twice what it normally was seeing as the voltage was half.
  8. I can't think of any reason why not off the top of my head.
  9. I am all about DIY, but the Pico is one of the few things I didn't mind shelling out the cash out for. For what it does in such small well built package just can't be beat. Even if it does only have a $20 Dac chip;)
  10. I think it would all depend on the characteristic impedance of the cable (75ohm I think for component) and the impedance of your source and amp/preamp. If you had a source with an unusually high impedance or a amp/preamp with a unusually low impedance it might make a difference depending on your actual ability to hear the attenuation/freq shift at the upper ends of the audio spectrum. But since you more than likely have properly made audio equipment and normal ears it should make any difference.
  11. For the price you think they could have made it with custom machined mounts instead of zip ties for the caps.
  12. I figured it was some late night drunk posting:p
  13. I should be in CS for at least a couple months after getting back. Look forward to giving the new stuff a listen. For those of you on the loaner list if you could just shoot me a PM when you receive the item and ship it to the next person so I can have an idea where it is.
  14. x2
  15. Well he replied. He really doesn't know anything does he?
  16. Well I guess that trick is have your wife call companies and complain. New pair of Triple-Fi's arrived by Fed-Ex today To bad I am stuck with a pair of Shures for the next month. All's well that ends well I guess.
  17. I don't know if they fixed up their act or not but I wouldn't send anything to them. I fixed a Lite Dac for a member here. The work was a joke. Outputs wired backwards (ground to signal), half the mods were not done (expensive caps not installed), fuse removed from power wiring, source selector switch removed and not reinstalled, blah blah blah.
  18. I am very interested in trying the Buffalo with some other output stages. TP is coming out with a discrete I/V stage and I am also (when I get time) going to make a tube output stage for my Pass D1 clone that I will try with the Buffalo. I also have a Zapfiler that is currently unemployed that I can try out when I get home. I wasn't a big fan of the Zapfilter on the Opus though.
  19. Well my wife went ahead and gave them a call. Looks like pair #3 will be in the mail to my house. Hopefully this one doesn't get lost en route:rolleyes:
  20. Unless of course they used lower value parts. But they will be like BGs and stuff:palm:
  21. Everything is in the mail. Marc and Steve should have mail in about a week:)
  22. Any one here have to deal with a RMA from Ulitmate Ears? I sent in a pair of Triple-Fi's over three months ago and they keep giving me the run around saying they shipped replacements. So far there are supposedly two sets of replacements in the mail which should have been here by now. I typically like to give companies the benfit of the doubt but I am starting to get pretty pissed. I guess it's more important for them to go give away headphones to celbrities than take care of actual paying customers.
  23. Well it's officially a Mini3. And I totally reversed my opinion on Ken. The guy is Harry fucking Houdini because he managed to cram $200 worth of upgraded caps in Mini3. And to make it even more amazing the Mini3 is a DC coupled amp without any caps in the signal path to begin with. With the help of his side kick Vinne of course. Brilliant! But don't complain about the price. The Aristocrats.
