  1. I was there when Eric said it. Not sure if he quite knew what he was talking about because he also thought the Benchmark had a better DAC than the EMMLabs CDSA. And the Benchmark was the best amp they tried it with. From my brief listen the Pico toppled the Benchmarks built in amp.
  2. Didn't work out so well...
  3. I am already there. Did this in my spare time last deployment. It came out okay
  4. Ah the carpet. Both me and the wife actually don't like it and have been planning to replace it for a while but never get around to it.
  5. In that case count me in. I have a buffing pad for my air orbital sander what would work quite well me thinks.
  6. Good choice. I love the AXIS mechanism.
  7. R/C Airplanes was the first hobby I ever got into. Strangely enough I think I like building them more than flying them. Yeah I have to many interests. It's a blessing and a curse. Watches? I would be but the ones I really cost $$$. Maybe when I grow up and get a real job. Being left handed a quality pen would be lost on me. And I prefer the ladies in the buff. I think there needs to be a blushing smiley. Just like having projects and learning new things. Except guitar. Me+guitar=fail. Change it to Denver and I will drive. After my 48 hour trip home I don't think I want to sit in one vehicle for an extended time for a while. Plus I removed the big box from the rear is not longer there. Just takes up to much room. Plus I felt like I should have spinners if I was going to have that much sub in my car. Okay the speaker plays! Still not really finished (waiting on mounting plate for the rear speaker terminals) but I thought I would hook them up and see how they sounded. First thing is placement and room acoustics (dugh) make a big difference. So far I found they sound best spread far apart against the wall and toed in just a bit. They definitely handle the top and low ends just fine. Right now my only complaint is they seem to have to much mid range. Hopefully further tweeks on placement and breakin help. If not a notch filter maybe in order or a really warm tube amp. Hmm tube amp. Mmmmmm.....
  8. It's on a different site. 2007 Tahoe install - MP3Car.com

  10. I think tools and audio gear are stuff you can never have enough of. The woofer actually only has a 1mm xmax so it isn't going to be a SPL monster, but it should be sufficient at normal listening levels. The real test will be when I crank up 10,000 days. Yeah shoot me a PM and we will see if we can get in touch. It's a big step up from the Craftsman that replaced it. Installed threaded knife inserts for mounting the speakers and routed out the back side of the speaker cut out. First box done and drying. I need more clamps.
  11. Yeah I am using the stock design. If I like them I can then decide how crazy I want to go on the veneer/hardwood. Here is the driver in it's box. And for size comparison to a Scan 12m 4.5" mid and TC 3000 12" sub. Overall the quality seems okay. Definitely not up to the same quality of some of the better drivers. On a build quality level I have seen better drivers for the same price or less. But I guess it all comes down to how it sounds. And I won't know that till I get them playing music. So back out to the garage for me.
  12. The drivers are here. To bad I have to run some errands. Pictures when I get back.....
  13. Mine is me holding a gun to my turkey hat. I guess they are cool with turkey genocide. Bastards.
  14. Powermatic and Jet are the same company. The Powermatics are nice but just a lot more $$ because they are yellow. If I was going to blow some serious cash on a saw it would be a Sawstop or Laguna. Just get some cheap wood and cut away. Setting up the table is half the fun. Well not really. But it at least it ensures you get a good cut every time.
  15. Yeah I am a little dubious myself, kind of why I wanted to give them a try. From the reviews I read they seem to do a good job but I guess I won't know till I hear them myself.
  16. I just to stay busy;) Holes are cut. Now these almost look like speakers. Just need Mr. Fedex to show up tomorrow with the drivers.
  17. My HT amp (Yamaha DSP-A1) for now. Down the line a Pass F1 clone. And maybe a three channel B22. Dampening installed. Time to break out the router. By the looks of the picture I think I need a V8:D Edit: And yes that is the best "Time Correct" Monster Cable I had laying around.
  18. The first layer is RAAMmat BXT and the second is Ensolite, both of which I had laying around from my car audio install. Since I had them I figured I would give them a try. I still have some Auralex panels to install and fiberglass. Need to make a run up to Guitar center when it opens.
  19. Did a bit more work on them Layer 1 Layer 2
  20. The freq response is listed as 31-20k with the Fs at 31.9. So it should play sufficiently low enough. If I find it lacking on the lower end it can always be supplemented with a sub
  21. Yeah I thought of something like that. I guess it really depends how much I end up liking them. Here they are all dry and ready for some caulk. Time to run to Lowes.
  22. I already have a round over bit just for that purpose I am still on the fence with dampener. I was thinking about layering sound deadoner with some sonex panels I have left over on the top/bottom/back and the R13 on the sides.
  23. There will actually be two 3" ports on the front of the cabinet. They will be nothing more than just cut outs. Since it will be a true single driver speaker no crossover is required which makes the build that much easier. As for speaker wire I have a bunch of 12ga laying around that I plan to use. The finish is undecided, but will probably a veneer. It all depends on how much I like them. I have some Raamat left over from my car that I will probably use then staple R13 insulation on the back and sides. Maybe some Deflex panels if I can find them locally.
