  1. if you don't expect to do anything complicated, and don't expect a ton of traffic, dreamhost is a good place to start. Various referrals can get you your first year for $15. I could give you one if you don't have a favorite place to do that (I don't THINK I profit if I give the best price referral link, but I might, I've never done it). It includes domain registration, and wordpress (and lots of other options), and hosting.
  2. clutch between gears. 1st is down, then up to neutral, 2nd, 3rd..6th Shift at about 3500 rpm for normal performance, and just before the redline to go fast.
  3. there was chili paste in the stir fry, the sriracha was a garnish
  4. does that change the "it would bend in my pocket" math?
  5. I dunno, I'm my kids' dad. The bar is already pretty high.
  6. I also don't see the problem. If either of my daughters (or sons) wanted to wear that, I wouldn't have a problem with it. It's just a darth vader costume with a skirt and knee socks. It's not particularly "slutty" or revealing. It's campy fun. There's no need to get uptight about everything. Actually, that'd be a great way to harrass my kids, I wonder if they make one in men's XXL...

  11. My daughter upgraded her 5 on day 1
  12. The best decision I think I've ever made was to stick with contract work. I work flat hourly. No time and a half, no sick days, no vacation. I get paid for every hour I work, and when I don't work, I don't get paid. If I get called when i'm not at work, and I'm awake, it's a 2 hour minimum. if I'm asleep, it's 4. I'd be hard pressed to take a salaried job that didn't at the very least meet 75% of my average income over the last 3 years, and come with at least 4 weeks of vacation. Salaried tech workers get seriously abused.
  13. The 5 uses the nano sim
  14. that's great news
  15. Taking a day off, after working 45 hours from sunday to wednesday.
  16. yes, and yes. The decision about which distro you're going to use will definitely impact your choice of software available. Linux will have trouble succeeding on the desktop in any real way until software is more self contained Hopefully the steam box helps that. I'd recommend ubuntu for that reason. It's the most common non-business linux desktop, so has the most software available. But check your desired software to see what they support.
  17. As long as the software you want to use is available, there's not a compelling reason to use one variety of computer operating system over another. Even the world's worst operating system is reasonably usable. The risks associated with each vary, as do the frustrations for using something lots of other people don't. The key thing is to not use a privileged account when you don't require it. As long as you follow that precaution, and are careful about what you approve escalating privileges for, you should be fine.
  18. it's one of the costs of buying in the first wave.
  19. I think Mac switched to 64 bit CPUs back in like ’04, 2011 won't have any trouble.
  20. (to be clear, I deleted the url. I assume he works for the manufacturer in some way.)
  21. backups to a server are more complete than ota backups. usb backups are more reliable than wifi. That said, you're generally fine with ota. I do local backups for peace of mind.
  22. wrong place, try http://www.head-fi.org
