because twice makes sure every byte of the disk gets rewritten. if it was encrypted from the beginning, then just format it and you're safe.
-
do this from the command line: diskutil randomDisk 2 /dev/diskN That should be thorough enough that even commercial tools won't get at the data. Encryption would work fine if you started with it on. The reason it doesn't help in this case is the same reason overwriting is a pain. SSDs don't like to overwrite the data, they just write to new locations and change the pointer.

I don't know how to do it with the tools you have available. Any 3 pass tool that doesn't write the same thing all 3 times is going to be fine. I'd do the 19 hour wipe, or use DBAN or something like that. Here's an article on options: http://gizmodo.com/5494427/leave-no-trace-how-to-completely-erase-your-hard-drives-ssds-and-thumb-drives

3 times, 0, 1, then random would be secure enough. What I do is just pull out the drives, and recycle the computer without the drive. I have a drawer full of old hard drives.

I upgraded to 10.11 beta 3 today... -
I think only the first gen ones will come close, the inside gets smaller with every new gen.

I had a fuse driver 5 years ago

That is true by default. The key is that variable and any setuid binary.
-
no, it was intended for anyone running 10.10 who is security conscious.
-
echo 'echo "$(whoami) ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL" >&3' | DYLD_PRINT_TO_FILE=/etc/sudoers newgrp; sudo -s Gives a root prompt without a password on 10.10.x (works on 10.10.5 on my computer)

I think you should get him something other than a nice watch if he doesn't appreciate them.

if it were something I was passionate about, my wife wouldn't mind so much. There's just not a good reason for me to have both bikes, and there's other things we could put that money toward.

Anyone interested in buying either my 56cm calfee (6800 ultegra 11 speed full group, including 175mm compact crankset, 11-32 5800 cassette, mavic ksyrium ssc sl wheels) or my 58cm caad 8 si (campy centaur 10 sp QS in century grey with carbon fork, triple crank (have other options), nearly new campy zonda tubeless clincher wheels)? I don't need both, and both work equally well for my riding, so I just need to get rid of one of them. Trying to clean up the garage some for family peace
-
the best way to do that is to buy 2.

2015 - Which Microsoft laptop to get?
grawk replied to guzziguy's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
If you're not gaming, I'd go with whatever the cheapest laptop that has everything you want. Last year I bought my daughter an asus laptop with a 15" screen for $200 from the microsoft store that is remarkably usable. I don't know that it has a dvd player tho. I'd get a usb bluray drive, and rip whatever you're wanting to watch when travelling. -
Jacob's, but both really
-
That's a hell of a watch

I took my family to hershey park today. Rode a bunch of roller coasters. A fun, exhausting day.
