Audio myths that need to die
At any pricerange I shop at, headphones are better than comparably priced speaker rigs.

I guess I haven't seen it all yet.....
Kids like what? With learning disabilities, but who are still bright and articulate, and who are able to do well even tho they are slow readers? I don't see how having another kid on the football team who isn't the best reader hurts anyone at all. It brings more money into the university, it helps him get an education, and it puts him on a level playing field with other football players, most of whom aren't ever going to get a degree, but who will be attending the schools in order to play football. They don't really interact with the main student body, they don't get fake degrees that devalue the rest of the degrees, and they bring in alumni money.

He can read, he's just REALLY slow about it. He won't get a degree. But with tutoring, he'll get more college than he would have any other way, and will have a career in football potentially when he's done. I agree college football shouldn't exist in the state it does, but it does, so academics should be flexible for it.

Okay, I thought I'd seen it all but this....

The Live Music Thread
Saw bruce hornsby at wolftrap last week. Was supposed to go to moe.down this weekend, but I wrecked my bike instead. Currently, my next planned show is hornsby at the Keswick in november, but I'll probably go see someone else before then.

I got an HDTV! Now what...
In hd, it's not gonna stretch, it's only SD material that needs stretching. The choice is to get a 16x9 display, and stretch SD, or get a 4x3, and have bars for HD.

On my toshiba, there's a "theater wide" setting that will stretch the screen to fit. It also can zoom in a little to fill in the grey areas. I just got used to seeing fatter people on tv

Should I sell it all?
I definitely preferred the UM2s to the ER4Ps, even tho I didn't find the ER4Ps lacking, exactly. Just, uhm, boring.

Speaker amp < $200 USD
My suggestion would be to find the local hifi shop, and go in and talk to them. They frequently will have tradeins, or forsale boards, and will probably have recommendations. The shops I used to hang out in understood that young poor audiophiles become less young and less poor as time goes on.

- My New portable Amp has arrived!!
I did apologize in the previous post. However, what triggered my annoyance was your mention of your rca cable in one post followed immediately by the mention of the recable in the other post, where neither seemed (to me) to be relevant. But whatever, you are free to annoy me, just as I'm free to annoy you.- My New portable Amp has arrived!!
Sorry to harsh your mellow, man. Go back to your buzz, and just ignore what I have to say. Where I come from, when someone does something annoying, you tell them. That's why I didn't ban you, edit the post, talk about you in areas you couldn't get to, or dismiss you. I just pointed out an annoying tendency. You don't want to listen, then don't. I don't think you are marketting to headcase, but even if you were, I don't mind marketting. I just mind annoying. It was just the two posts in rapid succession that got to me. I did a search, and you're right, my perception didn't match reality. You have posted about other things more often than your recabling. I apologize for exaggeratting the extent of your self promotion.- My New portable Amp has arrived!!
IJWTS that you don't have to mention that you have siltech wire everywhere it's possible to have it. We get it. It's your company, you use the wire, you like it. Pretend we all assume that everything you own, even your toilet paper rack, is made from siltech wire.- Weak Tweak of the Week

I just find it hard to believe that a consumer products company would actually make a true high end product.- I'm thinking of buying my first car
Your annecdotes don't match jdpower/consumer reports. The ford ranger is one of the most reliable vehicles on the market...- Cincinnati Meet - Saturday, August 5th

I'm about to trade my pilot in on a used car. I'm done with alaska, so I don't need an SUV anymore. I'mthinking ford ranger or toyota sr5 pickup truck, 2-3 years old. Good ac, small cab to cool, good reliability. - My New portable Amp has arrived!!
