loud annoying people at work
Getting to telecommute is easy. Just prove to them that you can get work done and aren't incompetent. Management likes seeing that people can be social, interact with their coworkers, and still get all their work done. The guy that is grumpy and hiding in the corner, and still doesn't manage to get things done, he's the one you jetison.

The R series is a monster. Huge, heavy, crappy battery. T or X. You can get an X with a 14" display, too.

It's just more optimized for battery life.

I'd say X series instead.

Why Choose Class D for a Portable Amp?
I'd be willing to bet that a single guy doing cd player mods isn't doing more engineering than meitner or dcs...but you're welcome to think otherwise.

We're obviously looking for something completely different when we listen to music. If I ever notice that one cymbal hit sounds the same or different from another, it means I'm distracted from the music, from the performance. When I listen to my HF1s, I forget I have headphones on, and get wrapped up in the experience. I've never had a problem with the imaging on the HF1s, and the musicality of them is what I like. With the RS1s, I am pulled out of the experience because of the inaccurate tone with some music. The PS1s were just worth more than I could justify holding onto them, so I sold them. RS1s cost me about what the HHF1s did (around $450), and I was much happier with the HHF1s, so I sold the RS1s. Others can have different opinions and it doesn't offend me at all.

I think depth of the wood, hardness, thickness all make a difference.

I think there are a number of things at work with the hhf1s I own. The deeper cup, balancing, flats, and that they're well broken in all factor into it.

The HHF1s are the only headphones I've ever spent a lot of time with that completely disappear and let me experience the music. My signal chain is airport express->apogee minidac->way overpowered balanced m3->hhf1s. I also compared them to PF1s (woodied HF1s with PS1 drivers) out of some big balanced singlepower amp, and I think they were better. RS1s just don't have the right tone for me, I love them with very specific things, but they're not general purpose enough for me to keep.

I'm not the only person who thinks an RS1 is meh, and the HF1 can be much better...especially with a little work.- DAC (or CDP with digital input) with preamp function

Markets determine what things are worth. People decide if they're willing to pay what something is worth. Enough people decide things are overpriced, the market changes. If enough people think things are underpriced, the price goes up. Especially with scarce items. People that want something that hasn't been made in 10 years, they have to keep adding money until the owner feels like he's making enough to give it up.- I'm all alone here

- List of Amps with Balanced Input...?
Ok, cool, I didn't realize.- List of Amps with Balanced Input...?
Pretty sure the GS-X doesn't output balanced sources to the unbalanced outs.- List of Amps with Balanced Input...?
You're using the balanced amp as an expensive and inefficient balun. Just buy baluns. Several manufacturers sell XLR->RCA adapters, then you can use your cables. When you decide you want to go balanced end to end, then buy the balanced amp. Or just use the unbalanced outs on your source, which will probably be better.- List of Amps with Balanced Input...?
Ok. You'd rather buy a balanced amp to use with unbalanced phones than use xlr->rca cables or adapters. Interesting. Every balanced amp would work with the right output cable adapter. I'm not sure which balanced amps will let you output balanced inputs to the unbalanced outputs. But if you're gonna spend $900+ on a balanced amp (balanced desktop being the cheapest commercially available balanced amp that I know of), why wouldn't you have your phones reterminated? - HF-1
