His family is having a memorial this weekend, and we're going to find out from them what they'd like us to do to honor him.

It always felt to me like Matt didn't make new friends. Because everyone was already his friend. I imagine it's possible to get out of his good graces, but I don't think I ever saw it happen. He brought people together, was the glue for a lot of gatherings. We'll all have to step up a bit more and bring Matt out in our own lives.

This isn't a thread to discuss that, but just to explain why the mood might seem a little darker than usual. Funny, for me, the chance a pet might outlive me would be a WAY bigger deterrent to owning pets than the chance you may outlive it. It's not fair to keep an animal if you won't be around to care for it it's entire life.
