  2. today was our thanksgiving because of family timing. I made a turducken
  3. Just go all in and get the linea mini https://clivecoffee.com/products/la-marzocco-linea-mini-espresso-machine/?utm_term=la marzocco linea mini&utm_campaign=Search+-+Espresso&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_tgt=kwd-361119731727&hsa_grp=120154447660&hsa_src=g&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_mt=e&hsa_ver=3&hsa_ad=506270084811&hsa_acc=5425615321&hsa_kw=la marzocco linea mini&hsa_cam=12546536327&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9JyhzoC59AIVhpyGCh1GiA9IEAAYAiAAEgK16PD_BwE
  4. yeah, i got in the first wave. I wouldn’t consider it now. Even tho $4000 today seems the same as $1600 4 years ago.
  5. the bad espresso thing is the great thing about the decent: lots of data about what went wrong
  6. for me a scale means I can think less about the process before I've had coffee. I know I need 15g of beans in and 38g of espresso out to get a cup I enjoy. My espresso machine actually talks to the scale, so it shuts off automatically, but even just having a number to look at to hit stop works for me as well. It's really easy to make better espresso than a typical coffee shop, you just have to care a little about your results. Your goal isn't 50 cups an hour, it's 1-3 a day, so a process that takes twice as long isn't going to even be noticeable. That was one thing I learned when I set up my espresso machine at that convention this summer. I dumbed things down to weigh beans, grind into portafilter, quick tamp, and start espresso, and taught a few people how to do it, and everyone was saying how much better it was than any coffee shop coffee.
  7. that’s why it’s unopened. i got a lunar immediately after ordering.
  8. I have an unopened pearl, I think. Lemme look when I get home.
  9. I didn't take pictures, but this morning I also had a leftovers omelet. Leftover flank steak. Was yummy.
  10. 24 volts 1.67 amps mounting holes 3.7 x 1.7 inches, it's a board. I forget what the connectors are. edit: found em, more expensive now, but not insane: http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?1689025_g10e&gclid=CjwKCAiAs92MBhAXEiwAXTi25wYeg3-De0RzhTG8f8pRAQGB18dchAF-y13a6_JsWNaoAy6TitamqxoCUJMQAvD_BwE
  11. I got 8, and liked it a lot by the end. Just not enough to do it again.
  12. on the yemenia? nope, he’s basically roasting it at cost: https://levercraftcoffee.com/collections/whole-bean-coffee/products/single-origin-yemenia-qima-alchemy-series-lot-3 For other beans, yeah there’s generally tiered pricing on greens. Full 65kg bags are usually significantly cheaper, before shipping. Then there are places that sell in the 50-65 lb range, then 25, 15, and 5.
  13. I could participate with some hyper-local coffee, but it's a relatively unknown roaster
  14. I just finished my yeminia. Made it as a luongo, 18g in 135g out. An amazing coffee. I'd roast it on the regular if I could get it for under $10/lb green. At current prices tho, I'm glad I got to try it.
  15. The two grinders I've been happiest with espresso: https://www.ebay.com/itm/264926779752?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item3daeddd968:g:VnMAAOSwOGdfeo9t&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAADEPYe5NmHp%2B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsStdebXPz4ZTXCT8FI9kPBh3H7icDs8pdj8hZbd4eDhOQJuDStqyZ0upicFUYto8%2FD43NPbbB0AHlbJbfRv1nBf3viE%2BRm6yOvzGVxFPPUC6ersF51fD04cu6sR7mCO7WECph5WTHVzfb7oe3HNp5%2Bi7FJTAcTw20q7R8nQsrE2GyNDwaO6P%2B6RvaUzqN8593QV0Xl3UVDTlg%2FKpUTIJU72LxEVuS8KkLuK%2FkCnYtl86kpViucM7hhifXgrE3kqHgKqrtNhOCmy3%2Bi%2F7cWAnDEhA%2F4Fzhhj4ArVb%2B%2FgZTrsS5q0Bb55FTr6uXqrbF5VyGbddCPmQNYhF5nu38bvHfelcnsDFYqQzoIm0GF0%2BiWgk8wPgMx%2FQrOOVEugv8P1UGFpShczyo27y9OjeqkgAsFszqA1MhjuxvonW2w90CDGmQ%2BFJFKrJ3ViG%2B6FQr9GOaCWB0nKyy1sDEOQCjSJmf%2FfcRmaZo6KQ535%2BgrepLBydnwnkQ7T%2BBtB2hfunwa26Znserqj1UWuNGPAqd%2FtPu%2FinFEMR3VMcsMiXtsTbiGH1QH%2BvL1DthT6KOL8Kxs68d3drfNHFooNa2gX22sPTkqgEulQysYlMmIlGQGjMXya5I3era5LCefgHrwNde2J%2F7B5Hc2VvM041CzsRPojjOF762BP4Zw%2BqMcBi2%2FnhnED0mA%2FRf78YH4ZkM1tIWjJtLUUJJfz4v558vlDz%2B6g7%2Bx0%2FXgjJcmN2T3P6bLLMYACNEPVDqqQ2cwPwfe4lqoULIUDsnz3SAg7Xhl0ADctOsvfLe10%2B5Mw3QecgIptYcMFOAwDE5eQC0hLXgVDw9zbrnDhFtAVdTDagX3nd%2FIR24SUIm7zQUYenbWcnEV2ZOTL4ftjZIDyIoc8b712qskP0zJ6bjON1olUIEhDzWvJbzaHnYpraNYVqoc1TWLj5YTUYCJfs9lgDhBlv1bAqgu7GXtI%2BHaOVpwn9XPQk6riPWfmhHRiTzkVONTvWHdrjQKuwM%3D|clp%3A2334524|tkp%3ABFBMkIya_55f and the niche. That crappy $50 chinese grinder works better than it has any right to, but is a bit finicky. It's too fast, it's staticky, and you only want to single dose with it, but it's inifite adjustment, and gets plenty fine. Similarly, the breville infuser at $550 is what I'd get if I didn't have my decent. My daughter has that pair, and she can make an amazing espresso with the pair. Mine is more consistent, and easier to dial in, but she can make espresso that rivals any coffee shop I've been to with $600 in hardware and my beans...
  16. no i’m not d-_-b enough. i have a niche and a fellows
  17. save time and get a levercraft ultra https://levercraftcoffee.com/pages/ultra-grinder
  18. I used the niche, the ode is in the camper at the moment
  19. The luongo had better body and similar flavor. Definitely an improvement.
  20. Definitely not cloying. Very subtle. I'm not a refined enough palate (especially scent) to be much more specific.
  21. I just made a 15x15 pourover of the levercraft yemenia qima alchemy. It's definitely NOT my favorite cup ever, but it's pretty interesting. Very floral and bright, without the sharp acidity that usually accompanies light roasts. The aroma, both of the beans and the cup, is fantastic. The body is light, I may go for a higher ratio next time, or maybe even luongo espresso.
  22. I like that
  23. Happy Birthday!
  24. It's similar consistency and retention. It definitely doesn't do espresso, tho.
  25. I'm a fan of mine
