  1. Now *that* is using your noodle.
  2. Approx. 50% heavier...
  3. Heh, that made the evening news here in Halifax. Wish I could say I had something to do with it, but no......
  4. Maybe you need lube? Oh, and Justin has already said on the previous page that pins come preinstalled. I trust he will get it right. So for 4 jacks, two normal two pro it would be 4*18 plus 2*5 = 82 plus PP and shipping. Yeah, I can dig that.
  5. I'm in for 2-4 depending on price!
  6. I submitted a paper; my magnum opus. Two and a half years of blood, sweat, tears, and LOTS of cursing. Fingers crossed! Tonight, I pack for a conference in San Francisco. Life might not be so bad after all......
  7. Lack of definition compared to what in my arsenal? The AD900 are pretty precise and impactful, but the bass volume is quite low; DT1350 win. The ESW9 have great presence and tone, but are lacking in slam; DT1350 win. I haven't compared to the HD650 or SR-Lambda yet, but those are both straying a loooooong way from a fair fight. So I won't claim they are perfect. But for their purpose and pricepoint they are pretty awesome.
  8. Drink beer now, worry later if it is a problem.
  9. Not really - that sort of thinking would get me kicked onto the couch.
  10. Yeah, I'm listening to the M3, Gamma2 and Gotan Project, and these things are bloody fantastic. I doubt many of you have heard the AD900, but the DT1350 have all the good parts of the AD900, only with a much more even bass response and a bit less of the mid-high treble sizzle. They also have a lot better clarity and are less congested than the ESW9. Isolation continues to astound me. I don't know what a perfectly neutral and balanced headphone sounds like, but this *has* to be the closest I have heard.
  11. Instant gratification wins, I picked up the DT1350 this afternoon Early listening is very positive. High bit rate MP3's from the Nexus sound fantastic, and the isolation is perfect. No harshness in the highs, and the ruler flat bass and mids are very comforting. No problem getting a seal; they clamp like a motherfucker and will take some serious wearing in. Thanks for all the advice, everyone!
  12. CCS it up, and the power supply requirements would drop a fair bit, wouldn't they?
  13. That is an enormous continuum between two phones that sound nothing alike to my ears...... OK. I would describe the MS-1 as aggressive and bright, but cold through the mids. How would you describe the HD25 in this context?
  14. Yeah, trading off ear canal comfort versus pinna comfort might not be ideal...... but it is a lot easier to take a quick 1 minutes break with earpad headphones than removing and re-inserting IEMs. Customs would probably alleviate this, but I just don't want the risk. Not sure if serious......?
  15. Very helpful, thanks Larry. I can knock the HD25 off my list then. I still can't bring myself to spend money on new IEMs though. The risk of something else that I cannot get comfortable is just something I won't take. Indeed! Reading your Earpad Sealed Wall of Fame definitely helped me get to this point. But I suppose I am really looking for good reasons, or unconsidered options, to stop me from impulse-buying the DT1350. Local pickup, good pricing, good isolation, balanced sound is a pretty compelling for laziness and instant gratification......
  16. Yeah, I haven't considered the Orpheus or R-10 either. I'll check into that. Re: the IEMs, I haven't tried the Comply tips, but I do use the Shure black foamies. These are much better than the Super Fi tips, but still not great. I dunno, comparisons are hard to find. I haven't really seen the buzz on Head-Fi cross over between the two worlds.
  17. Fugly I can handle; I own a mirror. But the size of a full closed model, yeah, not so much.
  18. Very disappointed at the lack of random insults. You are all way too helpful! My main reservation with the HD-25 is that I have frequently seen them described as forward and a bit harsh in the highs. That sounds exactly how people describe the Alessandro MS-1, which I bought but ended up not liking very much. From all reports the DT1350 (and the Amperior) are perhaps a little warmer with more forgiving treble. The V-Moda is an interesting option, but I would definitely prefer to take a step up in isolation over the ESW9, rather than sideways. Bose...... even if they came with free handy j's, I don't know if I could jump that particular mental hurdle......
  19. This question will probably be a bit Head-Fi-ish, but I trust you all a lot more, so I'll try my luck...... I am hoping for some input on a decent portable/travel headphone. I have some SuperFi 5Pro, but despite trying lots of different tip options I have come to the conclusion that IEM's are not for me, so I suppose that portable closed phones are my only other option. I do already have ESW9 - pleasing tone, but they are 'slow', relatively fragile and have poor isolation. My bristly shaved head is also destroying the leather headband. I've been looking at the Beyer DT1350 which I can get locally for CA $310. Another possible option is the venerable HD25i-II at CA $249. I was initially keen on the upcoming Sennheiser Amperior, but cost and wait time have turned me off. Source is Nexus S with no intention of amping. Music, everything and anything. Comments, suggestions and random insults welcome!
  20. Any hints WTF is happening with the Amperior then?
  21. Far too awesome, John. Well done!
  22. No, no. Dig up, stupid.
  23. Yeah, because higher education somehow decreases your understanding of how the world works......
  24. Bugger. I lost a bottle of hot sauce flying out of the US because it was 1oz over the limit. Seriously, am I going to take over the plane by over-spicing my food?
  25. Wrong. What I listen to is correct, and I need to convince others of this. I *MUST* be validated.
