  1. x4, and then some. If you don't mind me asking, any word on the cause of the problem yet?
  2. I tried Nasonex for all of a week. It gave me awful headaches and nosebleeds
  3. Is that supposed to help?!? I can definitely understand why a Grado man would not be fully satisfied. While I have never heard the RS-1, the ESW9 are VERY far from my Alessandro MS-1, which I'm not a huge fan of. I much prefer the ESW9 - particularly in their intended use at work, for which they have just the right amount of isolation without allowing colleagues to sneak up on you.
  4. That is fantastic For anybody who keeps their job during these times, it is like being a kid in a candy store......
  5. SKA Audio sells LDR volume controls here. I have never personally used one, but quite a few DIY'ers have used them in their Millett Maxes, and many report good results.
  6. I usually just pop it in a zip file.
  7. Might be worth your while to ask Russ in the Buffalo thread on DIY Audio for confirmation. I am sure that he will be more than happy to give you a definitive answer
  8. Forgive me for still being a bit of a noob. Is that...... is that a good thing or a bad thing
  9. You will need power transformers as well. Yep, that is pretty much it. You should be able to power the MUX from the second channel of the LCDPS. You can also add optical and USB receiver modules with no worries.
  10. NFI. I can normally follow a schematic OK, but the original Buffalo schematic bakes my noodle
  11. Heavily updated IVY. Counterpoint is a funny one. Russ likes it, but I think that the design is a bit finicky. He still seems to worry about turn off thump and DC offset. Yep. We can't forget that there is a second DAC-only tweakers board coming that will allow the use of IVY II, Counterpoint, or any other I/V stage the user desires. I'm sticking with my existing Buffalo
  12. IVY is their active I/V and line stage. The new power supply has been in development since WELL before Christmas. Russ canned it temporarily because it worked but didn't behave very well. Though by the sounds of it, the new Buffalo has fairly substantial on-board voltage regulation...... I'm not convinced that you will need anything better than the LM317 based regulators they currently sell.
  13. It is not stupid, it is absolutely right. Even compared to having one really good dynamic amp and a whole heap of dynamic headphones, taking that extra step to do electrostatics 'right' is significant. On the flipside of that, just plugging some ESW9 straight into an iPod sounds pretty bloody amazing.
  14. Half the fun of Head-Case is being allowed to talk shit about stuff you've never heard, based on aesthetics, design or reputation alone. A million times better than the circle jerks and reach arounds over stuff you've never heard like at Head-Fi. Skepticism is a healthy thing. It means you can often be pleasantly surprised.
  15. I know...... depleted Uranium solder.
  16. It seems to me that perhaps he is watching this thread, trying to head off any criticism that Head Case comes up with......? * HEH! Milspec solder

A 'shit bricks' that is actually accurate. Well done!
  18. Or you could always just hit the examiner over the head with a lump of wood.

    That's brilliant Hopstretch :D
  20. Nice! Would love to see a schematic, to work out how things are different from the old Buffalo......
