Sounds perfect. Desperately straining my eyes to see if I can make out the tube markings in the photos...... Oh, and I assume the front selector switch is to select the transformer tap?

Sweet, I'd love to build one then for shits'n'giggles. Here's hoping it doesn't have a ridiculously high gain like the Starving Student did

I will next time, absolutely. But because the big part of this order is for part of a matching stack with my DAC which already has FPE panels, I thought FPE was the safe bet to match colour and texture of the material.

Does anything work well on teflon wire? I had just resigned myself that difficulty stripping teflon was the price I paid for being too careless to solder PVC wire without melting it. * Yesterday I ordered FPE panels for my y2 and Exstata. Today, $50 worth of S/S socket cap screws in various sizes and with/without black oxide. I still got that horrible sinking feeling when placing the FPE order that one of my measurements will be wrong

Its the first DLSR I've used for more than a few shots...... But none, really - it has been solid as a rock. Only time I ever used a D50 was connected to a microscope, which isn't really a useful comparison.

........ moving right along. Its been a couple of years since I used a top-tier compact, but there is NO WAY I would go back after using an SLR. The improved responsiveness, shooting speed, focussing reliability, low light capability...... it all makes the SLR an absolute joy to use for everything from happy snaps to my lame attempts at arty farty. The only time I use a compact now is when I'm on the sauce. I've got a D90, and love it. Has the useful dual command dials, and a big and bright viewfinder. Can't imagine what more I could need.

Yeah, exactly right...... and before we went up, we didn't see anybody else do it. So it was a bit of a shock seeing how much slack there was in the cable once we were up there.

Never been bungee jumping...... but have done a tandem skydive which was 54 different types of fucking awesome, and also did a 'swoop' in New Zealand which was pretty great too * Not my video, but you get the point. Instead of slowing down as you get close to the ground, that is when you are traveling the fastest

Too far south for sand storms?

FWIW, I finally got my SRE-725. While I still don't have access to any calipers, the plug easily slides into a 19.2mm hole on a panel I got from Front Panel Express. Even the keyway just fits into the hole. So my vote would have to be that the plug is definitely smaller than the 19.25mm measured by Kevin......

Thought as much, but thought I should double check

So my Yamas order for SR-Lambda replacement parts finally arrived. I'm pretty sure I can replace the cable, backing foam, pads and headpad with no problems...... but have a question about the mineral wool. It has come loosely attached to a coarse fibered paper backing. Would the paper go against the driver, not against the driver, or is the paper removed from the wool entirely?

I was up till 4:00AM, on the toilet with a bucket, probably food poisoning. Still had to put in a full day at work. So very, very tired......

Saved for future usage

Start from the top. Let gravity do the work

I suspect my 'problem' was confounded by the fact that mine was one of the very first batch (serial #4, I think) that used the 'wrong' SPDIF comparator.
-
Nice! I'm keen to see what you do with it
-
I'll second this...... the original Buffalo is indeed very picky with SPDIF input. Sometimes mine just wouldn't lock and I had to power cycle. I2S from a CS8416 works perfectly every time though.

So can you confirm that H and G aren't connected to anything else internally? The 100V tap is 'shorter' than the 120V tap. It maintains the correct turn ratio to keep the correct secondary voltage. I'm using this diagram of the Hammond transformers to get my head around it...... Hammond Mfg. - Universal Primary - "Classic" Power Transformers
-
...... or are there 8 connections? Would it make more sense if you could connect to H and G as well? H might be the place to connect the start of the first winding, and G the end of the second winding.
-
I don't think so, Marc. In the table, position 1 is 100V and a, c, and e are closed, etc. etc. Nate: how many connectors are there? I would think that there are 6?
-
Yes, absolutely before it goes in the chassis I can't imagine solid core being that much better. I twisted tightly and tinned, and had no problems at all.
-
....... but nothing precludes it being used as a big glass dildo......
