  1. Well shit, I don't see how it could make it any worse. At the very least, external application won't rot your gut like the tablets can.
  2. Yeah, that stuff is brilliant. Any muscular pain, it clears it right up
  3. Voltaren is a great anti-inflammatory, and available over the counter in Australia and Canada. I can't believe you poor saps need a prescription for it......
  4. Looks great. But if I have one criticism, and this is true of almost all of Alex's dynamic amps, it is that the gain is WAY too high.
  5. The HP ones I have now are awesome. I used to have them hooked up to a mouse, keyboard, network, USB DAC, power, external optical drive and 2nd monitor. I just dropped the laptop on and had a full desktop setup. And for work, they even have an integrated Kensington lock that prevents the laptop from being removed. I think its a real shame more laptops don't have docking connectors.
  6. This is how I worked for a few years now and loved it...... docking station with backup drives at home and work, and carry the 15" laptop with me at all times. I used to have a monitor connected to each docking station, but don't have that now in Canadialand which is a bit annoying. But now that this laptop is getting long in the tooth and close to needing replacing, I'm not so sure anymore. Desktop and netbook prices have fallen far quicker than mobile workstations have. So I keep feeling that I might be better off with a powerful desktop at one location, bump up my internet connectivity, and go with a cheaper/smaller mobile option for VPN and/or VNC.
  7. Aside from trying different tubes...... are you perhaps getting DC leakage through the caps? Check the DC offset.
  8. It'll be a good fight between this and the Torpedo for headphone use
  9. Hobo with a shotgun was shot here in Halifax. Looking forward to it
  10. No, sorry. In the history of the world, nobody has ever compared those phones.
  11. I ended up walking home through about a foot of snow tonight, with ice pellets falling for good measure. But the sky made it worth it...... it was the most extraordinary, eerie pink colour.
  12. Very little snow here, but holy crap - the rain! I'm soaked from the waist down and my socks are wet from deeper-than-waterproof-boot puddles
  13. I spot a Grace M902 in there!
  14. That's a fantastic start lads, thanks! So looking at the maps, somewhere between Champa and Market Streets puts me right in between LoDo and the Convention Centre? Tripadvisor, here I come!
  15. Hey y'all! I have a conference in Denver in May this year, and before I hit the Googlenetweb I just had a couple of quick questions of you folks since I know many of you live in or have visited the city...... Is Colorado worth hanging around in for a holiday at that time of year? Any broad hotel recommendations near the Colorado Convention Centre and/or nightlife areas? Thanks!
  16. It was probably me you are thinking of with respect to the M3, and that is where my comments regarding their sound come from. I haven't heard the CKKIII, so I can't compare. But if they aren't blowing up your skirt right off the bat, then I don't think the amp swap is going to make that much difference.
  17. Same here
  18. Well, I've got to agree with them, on the face of what I've seen - and pre-existing prejudices of course Even if you can prove that it does shield, and does prevent negative effects from deliberately-injected radio signals, this says nothing of the typical usage scenario and what they claim. Tens or hundreds of km of power lines acting like an enormous antenna. Bog standard internal wiring. Then somehow shielding the last metre inside the house is going to make all the difference? Where is the evidence that a power cable would normally pick up a significant portion of the total RFI at this point? Where is the evidence that the RFI from this last metre is audible? Reks is spot on. A DBT in a typical listening scenario is all that is required to put this issue to bed.
  19. Duh, it saves on burn in time......
  20. At the very least, it can be a contact list that your friends maintain for you......
  21. Not quite sure if this is Slow Forum, but whatever...... video of a flash flood rising in Queensland. 8 confirmed dead, almost a hundred missing, and the rain just keeps on coming.
  22. Ooooh, ooooh, that's a fun story...... can I tell it? Regal made a fairly long post, where he detailed some listening comparisons between his brother's Apex Pinnacle and one of his own DIY creations (a Stacker, I think?). He claimed that while the Pinnacle was quite good, and it did respond to 6SN7 tube rolling, it didn't have the typical DHT magic and that the DIY amp sounded better overall to his ears. Problem is, Todd called him out on this bullshit. Only two Pinnacles existed at the time and it was impossible that either of them were in the possession of Regal or his 'brother'.
  23. I never had a problem with the amount of isolation. They strike a perfect balanced between drowning out minor noise, and not allowing co-workers to sneak up on me for practical jokes......
  24. I still really like their overall tone. But more recently I'm finding them too closed and congested, and not lively enough by comparison to my other gear
  25. Not yet. The Crack has only been in commission a short while, but I don't think I will ever bother trying the two together. The gain of the Crack is pretty high even for the HD650. With the much more sensitive ESW9, volume control would be virtually impossible.
