Yeah, but it is worth a shot and Birgir can confirm or deny. Looks like we have 4 here so far? -

At HF they are talking about pre-orders in Thailand. Is this BS? Where could we pre- order in the US? Elusive maybe? -
Sorry to hear Birgir

My T2 lives again, SumR got me a new transformer quickly. Kerry, let us know if you come up with something different, please. Dropped in a quad of Amperex 6922 and they sound excellent!

Well, I had it on all day over the weekend and as I was listening the sound started to get soft. I thought it was the song until something popped, and then the driver tubes started to turn off. I turned it off and smelled burned stuff and after I opened the PS I saw the plastic on top of one HV transformer was melted in a small area. I tested the leads and the 485 was shorted. PS voltages are still fine so nothing wrong there. I'll have to check the current draw which I never did before. The SumR guy said it needs to be below 80ma.

One of my transformers bit the dust, now I am T2less for awhile.

This is a good place. I bought a machine and grinder from them. Looks like there are a few reasonably priced grinders. Chris Coffee

Switched over from the HE90, which i have been listening to the last few days in amazement, to the SR-007 today and it is also really special on this amp. I usually just listen to random shuffling songs, sorry, not an album purist. Radiohead-In Rainbows-All I Need just came on and the kick drum on this track is fierce. I think Craig said something about drums too. They are very tight and impactful. Now it's back to a classical violin track, equally beautiful.

The volume went down 8db in one of my SR-007 mk2 drivers (SZ3 serial), so i opened them up and cable looked connected. I did find a large piece of hair. Now it seems better. Maybe jiggling the cable did it or could a hair do that? The port is definitely still open on this, the latest model.

Listening to the HE90 now and it sounds darn good. I always sensed some brightness in this particular phone as did its previous owner. No sign of that yet. The HE90 does not have the accuracy of the Stax phones, but it is still a presentation I like. Vocals are less in the middle of the head like the SR-007. I have never heard the phone on the HEV90, would love to compare that to what I am hearing now.

I think I have the 1.5RQ, seems like it should handle the load?? My source is plugged in there too but that does not draw much. Equitech 1.5Q

All right, more listening done today and this amp really is amazing. The detail retrieval while remaining smooth is uncanny. Went back to the BA-R10 for a moment and there must have been something wrong yesterday because it's still great too. I think it was having both amps on at the same time plugged into my balanced transformer power thingee. The T2 sucked the life from the BA or some such evil.

Holy Shiiiiiiiiiit!!! This thing is truly insane. It was a tough 3-4 weeks of tracking down the problem, but I have the SR-Omega on my head right now and this is truly not fair to any other amp alive (the ones i've heard) I swapped quickly to the BA-R10 which I already had on and I was really quite shocked. It sounded like I was listening through a wet rag. I am sure that I will still enjoy the combo but the difference is unreal. It was only a brief listen (Schubert piano). I may still need to adjust a bit, had some noise, then I stopped the music and it ceased. So, maybe a turn of the pots is needed. KG has said my first project was an ES-1 and then this but the truth is Steve did all the soldering. I helped all along but we could have done nothing without KGs guidance, hats off to him.

I think he was saying it takes a short time after startup for the T2 to sound brilliant, quicker than the BH.

So, the static in mine does not seem to be affected by tapping the tubes. Could a failing semiconductor, transistor cause it? Or a cap?
-
Hmm, it really does sound like a tube problem. I replaced all the 6DJ8s and same issue. I will take a look at the sockets, got mine from DIY Hifi, you too?
