I finally have a simple "ish" solution for the controller on the digital attenuator. I developed two boards. The first is a RK50 to Stepped Attenuator adapter board. It is the same size as the Stepped Attenuator board and will fit into an RK50 pinned board. The second is a controller board that supports a motorized POT with IR similar in function to AMB's controller, but as a smaller module with no built in display. A display could be added via the headers (I2C or SPI). It has an ATMEGA328P similar to the Arduino UNO or mini pro. The board is 1" x 2.5" and extends about a half an inch past the motorized POT. It can be programed via a programmer or via the FTDI USB boards. I need to double check everything, but I'll put an order in soon and test to make sure everything works ok.

Paid. Thank you -
Yes. I would do it as two separate boards. I don't think I can overlay the two pots but will take a look.

I'd like to add my pots to the sheet but it is locked. Can you add me in for 10 of the 10K and 10 of the 50K. Thanks PS If it needs to be less on the 10K that's fine. -

10 for me. If there were and option for the 50k version. I'd take 10 off those as well. PS. I'm ok with less. -
Happy 25th!

It will just change the height of the volume knob a bit.

IIRC Justin and Birgir both had bad batches of the Alpha pots. Birgir was able to send the defective batch back and his replacement batch was good. If it were an option to test the pots before they're sent out to the group buy participants, that would be great. I don't see why the reseller wouldn't accept returns on the defective units, but if not, then the cost should be spread out to all of the participants. I'd happily take 10 or so to try them out but could live with less. Also, curious if they have 50K versions as well.

^ I'll give it a try as well.

He inspired so many... Very sad

I like these connectors. I've only used the vertical with 1.6mm boards, but there was plenty of extra length and I would typically need to trim them.
-
The boards were designed for the alpha pots. Let's see where the sourcing ends up. We could look for options for an alternate. PS I don't mind changing the boards if we can agree on a pot.

Each person would need one. See how much it would cost for multiple.

I was more looking for fun, but yes if anyone was thinking of moving forward the part should be confirmed.

If we set the current down to original spec, it reduces the heat. At that point some heat sinks with some thermal tape and chassis venting should do the job.

At qty 5,000 they go to $0.058 a piece. If you split that five ways, that's about $60 per 1,000.

I've been enjoying the amp now for a bit. Looking to case it up shortly I'll publish the BOM shortly.

^ Same. That and the price.

That's possible, but they should find the underlying issues as well. I use 60V parts in my builds, though my prototypes used BC557.
