  1. Happy Birthday Todd! Enjoy
  2. Happy Birthday Tom!! Hope you had a great day
  3. I'm in. Will be available for after hours activities
  4. Are the output transistors backwards? If you mount underneath then I think they might be. Looking forward to the SMD version.
  5. I'd like to mount this flat against the inside of the heat sinks (75mm less top & bottom plates), so I'd like to request the height of the boards be 2.6" or less if possible
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Change of plans... we're going to stay in our current apartment (got a bit of a concession). I'm still going to look at my options and appreciate the help. I'll keep everyone posted.
  8. That's the correct compliment per the original NEC datasheet for 2sa1156. I don't know about future availability.
  9. IIRC you should be fine on 1 which I think controls start up, but you should check for oscillations from 2. I would guess you'll be fine, but would probably replace to original values.
  10. I think in both cases the statement would be something like, "What's that thing over there, I'm not happy!" I agree on the pluming parts as well as having something in the middle of the room. I'll throw a design together to show you what I was thinking. This could work
  11. Can you set one of the other relays as a quasi mute just before setting those switching points and then set it back? It's not so noticeable if the sound drops a bit during the transition.
  12. I went down a rabbit hole last night looking into the LX-mini +2 and in particular the DSP cross-overs. Looks really interesting. I also though if I shortened the tube (not sure how that will effect the sound) put a veneer over the tube it and wall mount it, it has potential. Also, I could create a teardrop shaped (top view) wire frame that would go over the top driver with some speaker cloth. I'd need a sub woofer or the +2 option, but have a space for that already. Interesting. My crazy DIY speaker project is to recreate the MBL tweeter / mid range and recreate something like the MBL 126 but with a smaller cabinet also adding a subwoofer. I was thinking the DSP active cross-over would be an excellent way of tuning the system. @Craig Sawyers - Not sure if the Hypex six channel DLCP is the right option to be looking at for this. All very interesting though.
  13. No, we're planning on staying in the upper east side. Turns out it's still one of the better values in NYC.
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. Thanks. I'm going to try and have a listen to some of these. I made the mistake of telling my wife my plan to downsize. She reminded me that she cried when I first got the maggies. Needles to say she was happy.
  16. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The amp was about $3K when I bought it. Was hoping to pull another few bucks from that as well. I'm about to go through a move, so I'm not going to have too much DIY time on my hands for a little while. I'm going over to Lyric HiFi tomorrow to ask about trade-in options or just to depress myself. I'll likely need to kick in a few $'s. I'm figuring budget of $1K to $1.5K for new/used speakers. Any suggestions on that.
  17. I'm about to move and need to downsize my Maggie MG-1.5/QR's (bought in 1989) to something that won't dominate the room. I've got a Classe CA-200 from a few decades ago. I do love the sound. I'm looking to trade in for something that could sit nicely and likely integrate into my home theater setup. A high WAF is required. I don't know what the trade-in value of these are but I'm likely to shed a tear or two in the process. If I could cover just new speakers for whatever the current amp & speakers go for I'd be ok with that. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  18. I tried to get one of these guys morning but couldn't. Got Oops'd out until they were sold out.
  19. Nicely done!
  20. No vinyl for me, but I was looking for this on Tidal. Same cover so I think I got the right version. Very nice on my Maggie's. Need to do some more critical listening with my 007's this evening.
  21. Nice I still love that you can make your own boards. I just haven't had the time to even try.
  22. I did a small update on the mini board to add a pad on the opposite side of the on board regulators. Here's and updated view...
