  1. Since I'm too lazy, do this: use the preview function to find a combination of tags that work as spoiler tags, then post. I'd do it if I knew how, but I just don't know how. Or you could use Firefox for Head-Case, and IE7 for everything else, nothing says that you have to use one browser for everything -- I have Opera installed for exactly one site. Oh, and your other problem about being exposed to spoilers -- welcome to me, circa 2007. How do you think I became the spoilers nazi?
  2. Have you read Death in Venice?
  3. You bastard, now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the night, and it's late enough that I might wake up with it, too. One banana two banana three banana four Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more Over hill and highway the Banana Buggies go Comin' up to bring you the Banana Split show Makin' up a mess of fun Makin' up a mess of fun Lots of fun for ev'ryone...
  4. Well...sorry if I mislead you, I didn't think they had dual-core Pentium 4's, and I do know they have dual CPU motherboards, so I just assumed that's what you had. Isn't that true about everyone? The tech support is the "front line", so it will always be any tech companies main source of gripes.
  5. So they're easy to eat from either end, like a hot dog? I see no dilemma. The pull-tab is there for people who prefer pull-tabs, the messy end is there for people who like to eat messily. I feel no cognitive dissonance.
  6. He could well have a motherboard with multiple chip slots. That's what I have.
  7. You do not need a special version of windows (although you'd probably need something more recent than 3.1, 98, or NT) -- XP Pro SP2 will work fine. What is it you plan on doing with it?
  8. It's possible that using the IC's in one place squished them down (I'm using technical terminology here, feel free to instruct me to "dumb it down"), so that now they're too small for other gear -- like the MC2100. I know I've had that problem before. If you're lucky, the middle pin is made up of four pieces, and you can spread it out again, with a utility blade or something.
  9. No, I meant Black Flag...dagnabit, I always mix up Big Black, Black Flag, and Bad Brains.
  10. Well, why didn't you say so? Yes, that's correct, there's less bassy and more bassy, but they're both bassy versions.
  11. It's something that a lot of people are heard not to give, but no-one has actually heard someone give. Like a not-so-mini-van, or a not-so-super-model.
  12. No big, just don't put quotes around the link, I think that screws up the parser.
  13. Appreciate the opinion; and: (wishlisted).
  14. Not just Firefox, the link was broken. Fixed it.
  15. I know of two, but don't remember the name of the other. One is called WebEx, and it's a pay service. It's excellent. You can tell your dad to relinquish access to his desktop, and then you can control it, and do everything as if you're right on it. I don't remember the name of the other, but it was Java-based, and many years ago. I have no idea if either of these will work with Mac, anyway. There's also a way to do it with NetMeeting, if you've got M$ Office. But you said OSX. I'm sure there are some free ways of doing it, too -- see java desktop sharing.
  16. (winces sympathetically)
  17. I'd really like to see Improv Everywhere vs. the San Francisco Zombie Mob.
  18. Uh...no. Volume has nothing to do with it.
  19. Are those any good? "Buffy starring Philip Marlowe" sounds enticing.
  20. Then yeah, stick with the Silver Spring leg of the red line, or as far out in Virginia as you can. I used to know some people who got a condo that was within walking distance of one of the stops, but the prices on those have gone through the roof, and even with the foreclosure epidemic, they're still higher than they were even as recently as 2000, 2001. (I'm talking about this from the perspective of subletting.) PM me your snmail -- I'll send you a copy of one of the free apartment guides that gets released here once a month or so.
