  1. What about alpacas?
  2. Those are suede, dude. I'd hate to get shit on them from having to stick them up someone's ass.
  3. Sent you a PM. You want me to test it first?
  4. Yeah, after looking some more, I may have just gotten lucky (that the one auction that matched my criteria had a digital out). And you're right, quite a few of them are being sold as "for parts only" and "as is". Buyer beware and all that.
  5. one eBay auction Maybe you were looking for a too-specific model number? Or is it because anything other than the 6xe is not FFOTM?
  6. No, there's a standalone CD-ROM that has an optical out. It was the FOTM for a while on Head-Fi, I think it was the 6xe? I don't know if it'd have the same nomenclature over there, but basically, it's a CD-ROM with a cartridge and an optical out, a play button, and not much more (maybe a skip track forward and backward). There were some others. Here: google search of Head-Fi. There are of course variations -- but the trolley-based one was the most popular. And it's the only one I've heard personally, and can vouch for it that it sounded plenty fine. Someone on head-fi said something about a top-loading one. Try searching for "NEC multispin".
  7. Just received these:
  8. I thought you said you didn't have any neighbors in the immediate vicinity? "Nearest neighbor..." was some umpteen miles away? Or was that one of those can't differentiate dreams from reality things again?
  9. As a transport? Not sure you can beat it at that price. Do y'all have CD-ROM's where you are? NEC. No-risk proposition, if it doesn't work out for you, you can sell it. Otherwise I'd say just get a Sony changer or something, but until you figure out what's wrong with the Technics, I wouldn't bother.
  10. Too much all at once, it's like O.D.ing on estrogen.
  11. You do realize you just increased your chances of growing breasts.
  12. I actually prefer Bachelor No. 2...but not by a wide margin, I really need to pick up two of the versions of Lost in Space, the one with the bonus tracks, and the SACD. Which version do you have? I'm also really excited about the new Spiritualized. These last couple albums have been great, despite being a complete change in direction from the earlier albums, which I dig for entirely different reasons.
  13. Maybe he has a softer, more malleable head than you do.
  14. Do a search on 'Bellari'. And yes, that is correct in how it works.
  15. Two possible explanations are that the album's release date got bumped up, or that someone at that Best Buy screwed up. But it would be a screw-up, not a 'they're not as strict...', because they get fined (by the record companies, not the cops) if they release something too early.
  16. You're not retarded. Afterglow is just different. It's all post-Lilith Fair, so the coffeehouse sound is a little more prominent. Usually artists go the other way (case in point: Jewel) -- they start with the simple stuff, then work their way up to the more produced material. Sara just went in the other direction. I have a feeling that album captured 'where she was going' with her live stuff.
  17. Dude, report it. That's a 99% chance indication of a scam auction.
  18. Meridian DSP8000?
  19. The 310 is pretty good, too. I'm quite happy with mine.
  20. I'm too old for that shit anymore. I can stay up 'til 5am as many days in a row...as long as I sleep 'til 1pm the next day...this burning the candle at both ends shit ended years ago.
  21. That's actually very well said, and much more diplomatically than I would have.
  22. Agreed, Walmart is evil.
  23. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, The Apocalypse Inside of an Orange -- psychedelic fusion, done well Interpol, Antics -- new order/joy division/chameleons type stuff Filter, Anthems for the Damned -- industrial/metal crossover
  24. I can zoom in, but the pictures, they mean nothing to me.
