  1. It wasn't this thread...
  2. This is Russia. Freedom of speech hides behind single-point-of-failure king like sniveling castled rook.
  3. Slurpee (wasn't sure whether to post it here or in the "What are you drinking?" thread).
  4. This thread is making me hungry for spaghetti.
  5. Yeah, everyone knows that Britta won't desalinify seawater.
  6. I don't know that it's the same -- he's definitely worse now than he was several years ago. If nothing else, he still hasn't delivered several of those same amps.
  7. Okay, I stand corrected.
  8. The packaging mimics the original records as accurately as possible.
  9. Actually, it's only $4 if you buy the whole "season", and thanks for the offer, but you're right, I'll probably just buy it through iTunes.
  10. First of all, I hate the squeal. I find the headphones unlistenable for lengths of time for this reason alone. Secondly, I think Spritzer was implying that they did it to add midbass, not to fix the fart.
  11. Well, it's like he rated the Black Gates highly in everything because everyone expects the Black Gates to be rated highly, so ruling them out (yes, because they are now discontinued), that pretty much leaves the Elna Silmic II at the top. Alone. Are they really that good? I guess I can't know without hearing equipment with them in it, myself. And yes, the whole point of this thread is because Black Gates are discontinued, so yes, I want alternate answers, and yes, sounds like I need to try Elna Silmic II's. I was just being disingenuous. As to what I want them for -- I don't know, to upgrade stuff -- my M-Audio Sonica, vintage receivers, that kind of thing. In vintage equipment, often the caps are dried out to varying degrees of dehydration ( or depetroleumation, or whatever), so it's probably a good idea to inspect and/or replace them all.
  12. Dagnabit, I forgot to watch that while it was streaming...
  13. I didn't watch it through to the end, did he make some kind of ouruborous reference at the end about the tape he was making going in to the library as soon as he was done filming?
  14. I believe the terminology in LED jargon is "amber".
  15. Can't seem to get the DVD to play, will have to try another player.
  16. I think I just found my next avatar.
  17. No, I think it was just to make it clear which caps were being talked about in a particular picture, since they were all mounted next to each other. And yeah, it sure seemed slanted towards the Elna Silmic II for 2nd place, wunnit?
  18. The Lambda's are the boxes that angle the speakers towards the ears more like speakers, right? Yeah, you're right, that shouldn't instigate the "Stax squeak", there's no way there's that good a seal there, right? So what causes the Stax squeak again? I realize it's the seal, but what is the seal doing, because it sounds amplified...perhaps there's a different cause, but the same result that is happening?
  19. He did say that, but then Mikhail convinced him that they were done and ready to ship -- that was the whole point of stating that they were done and ready, and convincing him not to sell them. If this is not clear in Mikhail's mind, then that's part of the problem right there. And yes, I realize we're all being third parties in what is essentially between Elephas and Mikhail, but we're trying to give Elephas good advice, so I agree it would help to know at least Elephas' side straight from him.
  20. Nah, I wouldn't be worried about that -- that Apogee Duet that I was after sat "for sale" long after I tried to contact the seller (it does now say sold).
  21. The ball is not in Elephas' court, it's in Mikhail's. One of the resolutions to the issues has been and continues to be to ship the effin' amps, already. So I'm seeing a little bit of an infinite loop in Mikhail's mind -- he doesn't want to ship the amps until issues are resolved, but the issues would be resolved if he'd just ship the amps. These vaguely referenced chassis changes or whatever should be just gotten over and done with, if they're not important enough to discuss clearly, then he needs to just finish them. Sounds like he has a problem with finishing a project.
  22. Isn't that a classic case of the electrostatic "fart"? I thought this was the result of having too good a seal?
  23. So don't leave it blank.
  24. Yeah, if it were me and I wanted one, I'd feel comfortable buying it and just avoiding the scenario.
