  1. Yeah, they're not really reviews so much as ad copy.
  2. I laugh at the retardedness of others.
  3. (wanders off to find a pic of Leeloo to see if they got it right)
  4. Does it matter? They're both RCA's, right? Or is it for labeling purposes?
  5. Yeah, sorry, comment was actually directed at aRc.
  6. First three volumes of Boris Berman's Prokofiev Complete Piano Music series.
  7. I'd be interested...to hear other Californians' impressions.
  8. I find the Balanced Max to be very neutral-transparent. I've heard it several times under meet conditions, and once in a more dedicated listening session. The current one with the diamond buffer was special, so if you search used, make sure you know which version you're looking at.
  9. Is that true? I didn't think there is a 'too cold to start functioning', short of being so cold that any moisture in the vicinity instantly crystallizes and indirectly causes problems that way. Or too large a temperature gradient too fast, which might crack something. Which, admittedly, -50C would be. But I don't think the processor itself would have a problem with it. Is that what the overclockers are saying? I'll wander over there and look around, I'm curious what the reasoning is.
  10. I'm already taking Astelin, Nasonex, Allegra, and Sudafed. You know what sucks? I'm already maxed out on all of them (as far as the insurance company is concerned), so when I get sick, I can't up my dose.
  11. Amazon.com: Foxtrot: Genesis: Music Amazon.com: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway: Genesis: Music Amazon.com: Selling England by the Pound: Genesis: Music Amazon.com: Nursery Cryme: Genesis: Music Anyone know anything about this? Where to look?
  12. Very fond -- I actually have Nah und Fern right in front of me. I think, in a show of solidarity, that I will listen to it.
  13. Well, it's not just straight inches, it's also pixels. In fact, it's more pixels than inches -- the only reason I'd be getting the 30" monitor is because they're 2560x1600. So the question is, is 2500x1600 > 2*(1920x1080 or 1920x1200)? I presume that's the resolution y'all are recommending, right? Obviously, I haven't done the math yet, so here goes: 2500x1600 == 4 million 1920x1080 == 2+ million So yeah, it appears to be better. Glad I asked. Still wouldn't mind knowing the best place to shop for 24" monitors. Behardware, tom's hardware, anandtech, fredmiranda.net and other photography sites -- any others?
  14. Okay, but how's the amp?
  15. Huzzah, I hope he does.
  16. Oh, great, you brought another acolyte. And you still sound like you're preaching. Well, good luck with that.
  17. I'm perfectly happy with Monster XP for most of my systems; I use Cardas Neutral Reference on my one high-end system.
  18. Nope, going to pay for it myself. I just want the real estate. You do know what I do for a living, right? (I'm a programmer.) And you're right, there are about 5 different brands -- Apple, Dell, Samsung, HP, LG, Doublesight, NEC, and Eizo, looks like. (I'm sure some of those are rebranded from the others, but that's the sort of information I'm looking for.) (wanders off to do the math to see if this really is an option) -- I appreciate the suggestion, I will look into it seriously. But now I want a hot dog. And we do have a hot dog vendor on the corner. (wanders off to have a hot dog)
  19. First of all, congrats, should be nice. Secondly -- I don't remember if you've posted impressions of these, have you?
  20. I'm looking into getting a 2560 x 1600 30" monitor or so -- what's the best place to look up these guys? I know how to google, but someone posted a couple of good sites to look up laptops, I was wondering if there was an equivalent site for desktop components -- Tom's Hardware? I mean, I know to look at things like contrast ratio and response time, but things like color temperature are so subjective, it'd be really nice to find a place where people have more experience with these things, because most of the local shops don't have much in the way of selection.
  21. Oh, yesterday == refreshed my mullet. It really shouldn't look as good as it does, considering I only cut once.
  22. (waits for inevitable, "just buy some low gauge extension cords, and cut off the ends")
  23. Um...yeah. (a) You use too many exclamation points. ( I was just giving you a hard time, because your answer seemed to be in the general, whereas the question was very specific. And I heartily disagree with "team source first" -- I am a card-carrying member of "team weak link first", aka "team synergy". So every once in a while, I post to that effect. You just happened to be the target of my soapboxing this time. © It's not a problem if you post more often. It would not be a relief to believe I've driven someone off, that was not my intent. I am perfectly capable of enthusiastic discussion, and I enjoy hearing same, even if I don't necessarily agree with it. OTOH, (d) be forewarned -- if you do post, expect responses, not just from me. This is not exclusive to head-case -- it applies to the entire internet. Back on topic: The problem is that not many of us have actually heard an A3.24, so we wouldn't know if any of our suggestions are better, much less several steps better. Add to that the fact that "better" is a matter of opinion, and you get a rather pointless thread. Perhaps we should put a call out that if anyone sees any deals in the used market for top-notch sources within the stated price range, they should post them here, and all of them should be read with the assumed qualification, "YMMV". Sorry to have put the brakes on this thread, just ignore the cranky ol' bastard in the corner.
  24. Your Thiels have a bare midriff?
