  2. I use an $80 Buck as my EDC. I've been told to get a Kershaw. Re: plain edges -- they're the easiest to sharpen, and they don't collect crap at the points.
  3. Yeah, YouTube's embedding does not work quite right.
  4. Pfff. I got some serious slacking off I have to catch up on this weekend.

  6. Ah, so it's the lack of logic that causes the screen to appear.
  7. website The short write-up in December's issue of Hi-Fi Choice says, "...by using CRT technology, these valves can be run at a lower power and offer significantly improved lifespans." That'd be the part that got my attention.
  8. No, I think he's saying, "Oh, hey, look at that!" "In your dreams..." "Yah, pretty much."
  9. No, I was just talking about your attitude. Go to your happy place.
  10. Handwriting -- C- Showing your work -- B+
  11. I second both of these -- you need to figure out the problem with your amp, fix it and test it with known good tubes -- new production is fine -- and then once you fix the amp, check your extant tubes to see if they're really broken.
  12. It's not necessarily the last post, with the peanut gallery we have here. I think you need to relax your uptightedness on this topic.
  13. I do believe that already exists ... and is illegal.
  14. Just received it, in gorgeous packaging.
  15. I'd love to -- it is certainly something within my capabilities -- I just don't have the time.
  16. Let's go back to my theory -- sounds like you're having connection problems at the pins/socket of the tubes. If you are, that will kill tubes. So that's what I think your problem is, as I've said before. Hirsch uses a silver coating to make sure each pin gets a good solid contact with its corresponding socket, you may want to try something like that (but be careful not to create a connection between adjacent pins, etc.).
  17. The technology exists -- if it exists for the consumer, I don't know. If it doesn't, I can't imagine it'd be too hard to write -- I've used the google ajax API myself. Just start with a canonical list of search hits, and then compare new iterations of the search result set against the canonical set and look for differences.
  18. Well no wonder you're having imaging problems.
  19. I think I've seen the EL86 used for something recently, but can't remember...
  20. You sound conflicted. I concur. And: win.
  21. Smeggy needs to talk with God again.
  22. Re: condition -- start with pictures -- if they're really valuable, send them to someone you trust to test them. Or just qualify your sales with "not tested". And just to be clear on the latter, I did mean after pulling out the few valuable ones.
  23. So you were talking about the sound.
