  1. I'll wait until it comes out in black.
  2. DC area mini-meet. At your place.
  3. You also need to try the "swap channels" trick. Tubes, cables, etc. Wherever you can. If you have the kind of headphone where you can detach the cables, do that, too. One at a time, of course, so if it does switch channels, you know exactly which step caused it to do so (if it is the amp, then the only one which should cause it to switch channels is the headphone cable).
  4. Apparently, I need to upgrade to photobucket pro today! Bandwidth exceeded...
  5. Dagnabit, it comes with Panther (10.3); Duet requires at least Tiger (10.4.10). So that's an additional $100 right there.
  6. No, absolutely not. I find even harsh recordings to be more listenable on the best systems. It could quite possibly be that classic tube distortion -- second order harmonics, is it? -- or it could just be because it doesn't make it worse, but yeah. I listen to comressed distorted digititis-laden crap all the time.
  7. Well, there's that, too. Me: Kung Po Chicken from Mandarin House in Laurel -- they must have an apprentice at the wok, the chicken isn't as magical as it usually is.
  8. Okay, mom.
  9. It's also not necessarily unhealthy if you need protein. I ate red meat all the time when I was bringing my triglycerides down.
  10. Yeah, I probably could have guessed that they were working on a new flagship line without having any inside information. Bad time for it, though (Christmas shopping season). I hope it's soon.
  11. Oh crap.
  12. Pizza from Fresh Fields
  13. "bycurious"? I think you meant "buy-curious". Oh, and my solution? Zip-Loc baggy. Extra strength (I.E. the freezer variety). Keeps the lint out and everything. Yeah, it doesn't make the girls go, "ooh", but you know what? Not exactly something you need to worry about, unless you're Patrick Bateman -perfectionist.
  14. I went and checked out some of the Panasonic Plasmas at MicroCenter briefly today -- and they're not that bad. I'd consider them. Plus, I believe they make a 1080p model which is less than 50"...which is the smallest the Samsung makes. That's a lot of TV -- possibly too much for me. I'm tempted to go 46" or maybe even 42".
  15. Very nice work. /me approves.
  16. Sauce-some.
  17. I was actually laughing at my own lack of knowledge on the subject -- I do understand that most people know many more beers than I do. I thought the contrast was funny.
  18. It's not black enough.
  19. Conrad Johnson have a relationship with McCormack -- perhaps you should look at one of those? They come in a variety of price points, not just the ultra expensive ones are any good.
  20. We must be lucky, we have stores and bars here that sell more varieties than you could try in a lifetime (e.g. Brickskeller). (a) can't, ( not whining, just making an observation. I just thought it was funny that he said, "I've tried others, but keep going back to...", and then listed more beers than I've tried in my lifetime. It would be sort of like me saying, "oh, I've tried other bands, but keep going back to..." and then listing every band you've ever heard.
  21. What would you be upgrading from? EDIT: Never mind, missed the NAD comment.
  22. Sauce de la Awesome.
  23. So you keep going back to a long list of beers -- probably more different beers than I've had in my entire life.
  24. Well, what happens is that once twisted, the conducting part of the wire twists within its inner insulation and settles into its new position. And then the inner insulated wire twists within the outer insulation and settles as well. And since Elephas' have been twisted for a while, I believe that they have settled. So, you kind of have to overtwist it the other way and live with it for a while while it settles. The problem that I foresee Elephas running into is knowing the exact amount and direction of overtwist to get it just right to undo the extant twist. And then there's the inherent twist to the cable -- just like phone cords, they may "want" to be twisted just so. And if the wire within the inner insulation has a different "natural" twist than the inner insulation does from the outer insulation, then it might be possible that it will never be "happy", short of taking it apart and rewiring them. That's all theory by the way.
