Yeah, I also tend to be not as sensitive to sibilance as a lot of others are. I find the Sony MDR-7506/-V6 bright, but once I get used to them (e.g. on travel, listening to them exclusively after not having listened to them in a while), I find them quite listenable.

  4. Congratulations, and welcome to team analog. Alright, technically I'm not on team analog, I'm more on team almost on team analog. But I'm a fan of the sound, so there.

PS I think I will get these -- I might put the HP-2 drivers in them if they sound crap. It'd be a relatively inexpensive, very nice enclosure.

Koss Pro 4AAAAAAAAA (I lose count every time, I think there's three o' them Ayes)? I haven't tried them yet myself, but there are people (whose opinions I don't totally discount) who like them.
  7. No, he's saying that he knows this about Satriani's audience how? It's one of them "overgeneralizations". His appeal to Sherwood might be as a technician only (although I get the impression there's no appeal whatsoever). His appeal to me is as an artist, so it making it sound like his universal appeal doesn't apply to me is simply fallacious, I don't care how long he spent with his annoying guitar player/Satriani fan. That just makes him more predisposed towards being predisposed...erm...biased, that is.
  8. Well, keep an eye out for Tyll, even if he doesn't respond to your post.

I don't know -- I don't see anyone complaining about how good the Audio Technica Japanese imports look. As long as they sound good.
  10. if you hear nice sound then you have right fit. And you must acquit.

Not according to this page, it's not (pleather). Of course, "leather" could mean anything from lambskin to suede to waxed, so it's all moot until someone actually feels it. And then it's still moot, to everyone but that person.

Why? What other headphones have titanium that are fatiguing?
  13. Yeah, it's mostly psychologickal.

If $40 is a no-brainer, then Amazon's current deal of $45 (for 2.0, no less) on Gold Box is only a partial-brainer. Only there for a couple hours.

Anyone? They're closed, so I am, of course, curious. Stereophile has a review of the MS 400 in the current issue. The red makes it moar bettar. But I, of course, am interested in the moar black PS 500.
  16. Are these your first front-loaders, Mike? We just got a front-loader in the house where I live -- they take some getting used to.

    Awesome.
  18. I could see him doing it on a custom basis, but not prebuilt.
  19. That's what I was thinking (without knowing it had a name, or a preferred implementer).
  20. You have a deathwish from being molested as a child. DC: No snow, but it's fucking cold. Barely achieving 30 today.
  21. Ground it to ground.
  22. Sounds like you're trying to influence to me. Yes, you were pretty careful. BUT NOT CAREFUL ENOUGH! And yes, I see now that you were trying to answer the original question -- I didn't read it that way the first time.
