  1. The last two things on Amazon's Gold Box: Amazon.com: Brome 1015 Squirrel Buster Classic: Patio, Lawn & Garden Amazon.com: Find It Games Kids Version - Red Ends: Toys & Games Is it just me, or do those two items have a visual resemblance? What're you trying to say, Amazon?
  2. I laughed out loud at the Knutballz. So I think we found us a contradiction.
  3. Oh, well then, by all means, get another amp. MOAR AMPS!!!1!
  4. Installed the memory, graphics card, and hard drive in my computer, and now everything is working great, am working on downloading and installing CUDA, now. Colin, my favorite Chinese restaurant is in Howard County near a police outpost ( and no, by that I do not mean a donut shop -- I forget what it really is, but the Chinese restaurant is Mandarin House off All Saints ). I've been going there since '88, srsly. Chris -- I think Suitland takes up a lot of those statistics, if you take Suitland out of the equation, then PG gets a lot better. Suitland, where the key words are "two days" -- two days a body shot by the cops went undetected because they lost count of how many perps there were; two days a girl was held hostage in the center of town because no-one heard her because everyone drives around with their windows up; etc.
  5. Hott. And I agree with you, Elephas -- I've heard an ES-1, and yes, it, too, is some of the best sound I've ever heard.
  6. I love Japan, they can make a fetish out of anything. So there's this rule that you can't show genitals on videos, so they mosaic everything...so now there's a mosaic fetish.
  7. Stimulate the economy!
  8. Because now it's just like any other computer source, and you can plug it into any DAC you want -- dCS, EMM Labs, Wadia, Accuphase. You don't see the appeal of that? Now you're not stuck with the iPod's internal DAC.
  9. I'm not talking from the amps, I'm talking to the amps. And not all amps have Faraday cages built into/around them -- not all are grounded, not all are steel, etc. Yeah, well, good luck with that. I wasn't the first person to say it, and I won't be the last.
  10. Be reminded that the 22L's are 4 ohm speakers. I seem to vaguely remember seeing the impedance graph as really looking like 5. Is the Quad even rated into 4 ohms? The Cambridge Audio says it is. The Quad looks beefy, so I suspect it's not a problem. So yeah, properly driving them would be a good idea. Ramping up a notch on my Dynaudios made a world of difference -- they went from "audible" to "singing". In my case, it was actually the tweeters, but that's specific to the Dynaudio Esotar 2 (and others, I'm sure, but not tweeters in general). The bass certainly tightened up as well. I went from an Jolida integrated to a massive, bone-crushing Musical Fidelity A300^CR. Having hundreds of watts on call is definitely going to improve, but I still think that room treatments is what you really need. That's probably going to overshadow any improvements that greater amplification is going to have.
  11. I don't know, tell us after you've drunk them.
  12. Well, if one goes through such efforts as to perform the measuring in an anechoic chamber to reduce the ambient noise floor, why wouldn't one go through the same lengths to reduce the electronic noise floor? We're talking about Headroom here -- they're putting their measurements out there so that they are known worldwide as the place to go to for headphone information. I think it's perfectly legitimate, given the context. The conversation stemmed from you complaining about why Headroom's measurements were taken (somewhat) seriously (by some) and yours were not. Now you know -- just answering the question.
  13. Latter question first: this is the 21st century, you want a list? Cell phones, refrigerators, microwaves, wireless networks, power lines, non-FCC-compliant devices, barely-FCC-compliant devices, fully-FCC-compliant devices that still emit crap, model train sets, RC helicopters, Roombas, solar flares...I could go on and on. You unplug everything in your house, and it's still got the power and phone circuits inside, and who knows what outside. Former question: you're familiar with the concept of amplification, neh? EM waves crossing with EM waves, etc.? I guarantee you the noise floor of the electronics (as opposed to the ambient noise floor, which is what the anechoic chamber is for) will be lower (and the background blacker, blah blah blah) in a Faraday cage, being my point. You've ever been to a concert where the guitarist's amp picks up a radio station? Same principle.
  14. It's not because we assume you did stuff wrong, it's because we're not warm and fuzzy that you don't. I mean, don't take that as a permanent criticism -- we realize you're still "cutting your teeth" when it comes to taking headphone measurements. When your measurements start reflecting our experiences, then we'll start putting stock in them. Maybe (some people will never). Of course, I remember seeing the measurements of a pair of ...what was it, the AKG K1000's? And they looked like crap. You know, Headroom have their own faraday cage/sound isolation room. I'm not sure what type of measurement microphones they use, though. And you do realize "measurement microphones" are a special class of microphone, and that you can't just use any old microphone, right?
  15. They probably have ones that have suction cups on the bottom already. But you'd need a really smooth wall. Like a window, perhaps. Or a mirror, if you don't want your neighbors to see your...headphones.
  16. Jesus.
  17. (snaps fingers)
  18. The W5000 box is nice, I wonder if it is valenced?
  19. You have a newsletter? I want to subscribe, too.
  20. I doubt most of us have heard a SCD-XB940QS -- you're in Europe somewhere?
  21. ...until you get that HD800.
  22. A lot of times those cravings are a result of missing a nutrient from your diet -- so if you're not feeling hunger pangs, then try to stick to what you're doing, it's probably right. There are also longer term nutrients that you don't need to have on a daily basis, so don't take that as gospel, still monitor your own well-being and adjust accordingly. There's also nutrient interactions (protein earlier in the day reduces the craving for carbohydrates later in the day, etc.), so...there ya go.
  23. Me: Approx 3 TB of disk space. Yeah, that way if you ever sell it, you can "restore" it to its original condition.
  24. I'm driving them with the Radii HAP-02 (MG Head clone) okay. A little "cupped" sounding, but they're unmodified.
  25. Unless the price of stencil paint goes up.
