That's awesome! Congrats to him on being the furthest from Trump one can get.- What are you listening to Part the Third
Thanks for that. And this! This is really well shot/directed. Almost gives me a Jonathan Demme vibe (yes, I realize the chronology is reversed). Von Karajan is of course a favourite, but my first was this one: I grew to a big appreciation for Concertgebouw Orchestra, not just from this recording, but multiple recordings across multiple conductors. And since you're a Rick Wakeman fan, I will also recommend his soundtrack for Crimes of Passion. I know that seems like a non-sequitur, but it's not, trust me.- Happy Birthday Jason (philodox)!
Happy belated birthday! (party favour noise)- Happy Birthdays emelius and CD44hi!

Watch 'til towards the end to understand why I find this relatable.- Top Five Favorite Albums Ever?
Yeah, I don't know if I could even pick just 5...still...so I guess I haven't changed much, but my old top 5 are no longer my top 5, so I'll give it a shot: 1 & 2: Animals and Wish You Were Here still, but I don't listen to them much, even though I have the WYWH Immersion box and Animals remaster with me, they're both unopened. So they might still be my favourites? I do still love jazz (Keith Jarrett's solo piano concerts, like the Sun Bear box; Return to Forever/Chick Corea/Al Di Meola; et al), but the new number one in that category has become: 3: Hiromi's Sonicbloom, Time Control -- it still has to be part of her Sonicbloom group. I mean, I love all her stuff, but her work with David Fiuczynski and the others was just peak. Shoutout to Greg Howard (RIP) for the single most electrifying solo instrument performance, Water on the Moon. 4: I do still love prog, but my tastes have mellowed so I'd have to go with Porcupine Tree's The Sky Moves Sideways. 5: I do still love what I used to call e-metal, but the public seem to have settled on calling it "electro-rock" (Curve, Garbage, Stabbing Westward, Placebo, Muse, Kardi, et al), but this is an easy one, as I still listen to all of their albums regularly, so pick any: Al1ce, The End of the Beginning, The Thirteenth Hour, As Above So Below Plus, it's also Post-punk! 6: My love for all the various incarnations of synthesizer-based music (from "Kosmische Musik" to synth-pop to ambient) isn't well represented here, as is neither all the centuries' worth of "classical" music or "instrumentalism" (Jean-Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, et al), so... Isao Tomita, The Planets- Capitol Audiofest
Does that lift the veil? 🙃- Capitol Audiofest
I ended up not being able to go.- Capitol Audiofest
Anyone going to this year's? @justin @Dreadhead?- What are you listening to Part the Third
Thanks! I'll have to do the same with Tidal (cancelled my Spotify subscription and renewed my Tidal near the start of the boycott). They do have an EP entitled, Retrospective II Rarities, but it's only 20 minutes. Oh hai, WB. Archive, nice. (I'm still a big fan.) And yeah, I need to listen to that Hania Rani.- What are you listening to Part the Third
Oh, interesting (that that exists). By sheer coincidence, I was listening to this yesterday (an EP of Alice Sara Ott playing his music on piano): https://tidal.com/album/470578411- Happy Birthday Mikeymad and Dreadhead!!
Happy birthday, Mikey and Dr. Chris! I hope y'all are both having the best days possible under the circumstances. (party favour noise)- Mattresses
Utah King would need room for one or two more? AYE KEED, AYE KEED...- Songs You Came Across On Some Streaming Service And Thought Your Head-Case Buds Might Enjoy Too. No Critical Endorsement Implied. Fuck Vevo etc.
Nice little post-punk number. Medigs. Comments seem to like them.- What are you listening to Part the Third
Same. That song. Just...so bleak. The video is amazing. I really love "Ancestral" off that album. Learned that huge riff in the middle. Mikey, I recommend The Raven That Refused to Sing and Other Stories next. PS Your friend obviously has excellent taste.- The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post
- What are you EATING right now?
Pork, Okra, Green Beans, half a can of mushrooms in... Very delicious.- What are you listening to Part the Third
Participating in the Spotify Boycott, so cancelled my Spotify subscription and renewed my Tidal. Have to figure everything out all over again. Started, of course, with Al1ce's latest, As Above, So Below. Turns out, they're already working on another dimension. As Within, So Without.- RIP someone or another
June Lockhart 😭- Happy Birthday Marc (luvdunhill)!
Happy belated birthday, Marc! (party favour noise)- Songs You Came Across On Some Streaming Service And Thought Your Head-Case Buds Might Enjoy Too. No Critical Endorsement Implied. Fuck Vevo etc.
My favourite band in the world had their friend Clint Carney make a video for them as part of their Kickstarter. The song itself already tugged at my tear ducts, it's so powerful, and the video is everything I would have wished for and more: For those that don't know, or haven't followed Al1ce since 2020 (like I do), it is very rare that Tash goes without her stage makeup. I think there is meaning behind that choice in the video... For reference, the previous video that Clint Carney made for them is also a favourite:- RIP someone or another
- Happy Birthday Dusty Chalk!
No, I don't think so, but that's okay, their fanbase has grown by like a Brazillion since 2020, and I'm happy for them for that. Thanks everyone! - And now what did you do TODAY?
