  1. Venetian Snares, Winter in the Belly of a Snake
  2. If you use Adobe, I forget the name of the option, but you can leave the image on top, and that way you don't lose anything. Text-underneath or something like that. I can ask my housemate if you're interested.
  3. Belkin silicone sleeve for my iPod.
  4. Fuck yeah, I loves me some Venetian Snares. Didn't think I had heard that one, so I put it on -- I love that moment at about 2:00 into Frictional Nevada...
  5. Food court Bourbon chicken -- every mall has one: cute asian girl is hawking her wares, in this case, a small piece of absolutely drenched chicken on a toothpick in front of a store whose specialty does not appear to have anything to do with anything, ends up having an asian slant...er...ends up having an ethnicity unencumbered by any actual geography...it's yummy...you're sure one of the primary ingredients is sugar... Anyone have a recipe? I need to be able to make this at home.
  6. Congrats, Ian!
  7. Superman glasses
  8. I don't miss those days at all.
  9. Nice! They fit perfect!
  10. Awesome.
  11. Ah, the classic foible...think of it as a challenge, stay under budget. In fact, don't even feel obliged to spend the entire US$2K.
  12. Dead Like Me is on Goldbox today: Amazon.com Gold Box: New Deals. Every Day.
  13. That might even be best. I don't have a favorite, though, so I can't shill.
  14. Actually, I'd go even further, and just get a USB DAC and active speakers like the Quad 12L's or Mackie HR824's (which technically don't have a volume control -- only a sensitivity, which is not the same) and a USB DAC/pre like the Benchmark or the Headamp Pico or the Musical Fidelity X-CAN V8P. The Mackies will be a bit overwhelming, size-wise. The Quads, less so.
  15. Sounds like a good start, ... where did you hear about the Peachtree Nova? I'd get something a little cheaper and invest more in the speakers.
  16. Back to Alina -- the stark sparseness is a nice counterpoint to my mood (which is more like ).
  17. Amen. Seconded. Whatever.
  18. Or get someone with woodworking skills to make a new case for it.
  19. He already packed it, is what he was saying. See the little frowny-face?
  20. It could stay smaller if he shellacked the whole thing in some sort of heat-conductive coating...like fingernail polish (is fingernail polish a heat conductor or an insulator?).
  21. The dadaist influence is oblique at best -- I think I'd prefer something a little more in-your-face without being slapstick -- but the minimalism certainly captures my soapstone heart.
  22. Sleepy Sun, Embrace -- like a more energetic Brightblack, with maybe a little Black Mountain thrown in...recommended.
  23. Still seems unfair. And: is that a colloquialism I haven't heard yet?
