  1. Oh, okay, (wipes brow...which ends up looking just like...) It was shiny and black, so I just thought...I made sure it had the SACD compatability, but wasn't aware that not all PS3's could have linux loaded onto it, so did not check that at all. Dinny -- the honest answer is, "I'm not sure". It's a computer, so the possibilities are endless, but I don't know what non-game utilities are available via standard deployment options other than streaming, which, as has already been said, is certainly available elsewhere. EDIT: Well, apparently you can do Folding@home if that interests you at all. (The CPU inside this thing is unholy powerful. Folding@home is that technology that allows your computer to utilize idol clock cycles contributing to searching for the cure for cancer.)
  2. It's in a box tucked away until I get some time to myself. It'd be easier if I could find the ad...hold on...this one. Why wouldn't I be able to load linux onto it? It's a computer, it's just a matter of hitting it with the right hammer, innit? (wanders off to do some research -- helpful links would not go ignored)
  3. Pfff, I have no idea. It would say, "slim", wouldn't it? I don't think the ad said slim, but I don't remember correctly all the time.
  4. No, it can also loosen the bass, for example. Think of it from the perspective of a forced, simple harmonic oscillator -- let's say you want critical damping -- "stretching out" the cone will take the damping to a different value. So yeah, it could go either way -- it's just that, my experience with the DT990 is that burn-in doesn't make that kind of difference. You're welcome to try it yourself -- you should always try it yourself. It just won't.
  5. What does your crystal ball say about newer technologies, such as OLED's?
  6. It won't. Go ahead, but it won't.
  7. I bought one and I'm not a gamer at all. But I should explain to you that I have very specific plans for it (hack a linux partition onto it, etc.). And 's'truth about current gen not playing SACD.
  8. Chartreuse
  9. That's because your humidity detector hadn't been triggered yet.
  10. I hate when that happens -- could've gotten a 37" Sharp 1080p LCD for $370, now it's up to almost twice that.
  11. Hulu - Dollhouse: Trailer: the Public Eye@@AMEPARAM@@http://www.hulu.com/embed/ktcm3t5dSQd6wbSlppPuag@@AMEPARAM@@ktcm3t5dSQd6wbSlppPuag Summer Glau...special "2 hour event"...can't wait.

  13. This, again. Addictive. This is one of those "favorite track is whichever one I am currently listening to" albums.
  14. (a) It's only a "bit of a bummer", not a deal-killer. ( It's not so much the laziness issue as the organizational issue of keeping the disk handy.
  15. "No hard feelings." LOL

I hope he realizes that one cannot reproduce with that thing. Boy is he in for a disappointment otherwise.

Okay, that's just not right -- you just couldn't have this sentiment unless you're an otaku: ...or maybe a pharoah.
  18. Explicitly, no. See above link -- you're essentially right, but it also appears to have something to do with their extant agreement with Microsoft (so it's probably some loophole in an aspect of the agreement that was intended to prevent competition). Bit of a bummer. I appreciate it being mentioned -- forewarned is forearmed and all that.

I'll start: Inu (contemporary indie/alternapop, new project from former Halou member)
  20. Wait, you can mix colors, too?!?!? Dinny, that idea sounds seriously hawt, and not just because you chose black as the common-making color. And I bet you can choose colors much closer together, and your mind will still be able to tell them apart, if you want.

So...she's cheating on him with all the other guys who got the same dating game?
  22. Really? That's a pretty pathetic design choice. Or is that some sort of DRM -related thing?
  23. ...and the B&W Zeppelin, and the Manley Stingray thing, and Fatman iTube, and all the zillions of other integrated amp + iPod dock combos.
  24. Definitely try the angle thing. Orthogonal interaction vs. parallel interaction will make a big difference for little effort. Also, try staggering it (inspired by the asymmetrical umbilical).
