No, not at all, don't put meanings to my words. My attitude about this has always been the same: if your equipment is 'boring', listen to more interesting music. No, my 'meh' reaction was not that they were neutral, but that they were too hard to drive well. We had several very good amps on hand, and it sounded best out of a preamp's headphone section. On all the tube amps, it sounded dark and undetailed. I personally love neutral headphones, and some of my favorite combinations have been neutral headphones out of neutral amps. Because I do happen to listen to very interesting music. 'Meh' doesn't mean boring, but just that it did not rate as highly as its pricetag would imply that it should.

Yeah, I guess I was being too polite in my reactions initially. At the time, I said they were, "okay"; in hindsight -- I.E. now -- I give them only 'meh'.

I've heard the HD800 only briefly, but not in meet conditions, I.E. I was indeed able to listen critically. HE90 by a wide margin. HE90 > HE60 > ... > HD650/HD600/HD580 (memory doesn't serve, they were all pretty close in family sound) > HD800 ... Not sure where the HD250 II goes, I haven't been able to find mine.

Heck, they could even throw the two in together, plus some test runs, like the Blade Runner set.

I think Aardvark's point was to replace the internal hard drive, thus rendering all this discussion as to which port to use moot. You could also use the network for the external drive.

Sorry Nate, I understand your premise, but the two screens are completely different. I don't see the convergence of which you speak. Sure, a (non-flash or otherwise dynamic) web page reader -- you know, the web pages with actual content that needs to be read might be a nice addition to the kindle, but it's a specialized device with a specialized function. Until they figure out how to make it a USB device...wait a minute, they already did! Until they figure out how to ... oh, I don't even know, make a screen that is easier on the eyes than LCD, I don't see it being replaced. I agree that there's a large market -- I would even go so far as to say majority -- that will eschew a Kindle (or other e-reader) because of your first point. But for those of us who actually read a lot, and to whom the LCD screen is hard on the eyes (again I should point out that this is not everyone, and a lot of people who have no problem with LCD screens won't be part of this target market, but it's just like people who are light-sensitive vs. people who are not -- some will be bothered by fluorescent bulbs, some will not be), this will be a nice little godsend. Of course, take this with a grain of salt -- I haven't purchased one. Yet. IMHO, YMMV, &c.

The Blu-Ray of GitS2.0 -- to see if I want it permanently. To see if the extras justify ownership. To see if I want the 2.0 version on Blu-Ray.

Yeah, unless they use that electronic reading paper that the Kindle and the Nook and the Sony reader uses, whatever it's called, they're targeted at a very different market. EDIT: iParchment? iPapyrus?

Most of the Lucasisms were early in the movie (opening act and credits and the computer "terminal" stuff -- like the three triangles tracking the cars -- throughout), so I don't think so. And yes, it's such a beautiful fucking scene, I think I would've remembered if they fucked with it, but I have to admit, I was in a particularly good mood that night, and was quite forgiving. I love that movie so hard. Hadn't watched it in a while when we watched it a couple weeks ago. Saw something I don't remember seeing before: The gunman who was controlling the trash man, Batou is saying things like "he's using armor piercing ammo in a cheap submachine gun? Oh, that things gonna overheat and jam for sure" or something to that effect...anyway, just before he lets off one of his final barrages (when they're all standing in about one foot of water), he changes his stance. Because he has armor-piercing ammo in a submachine gun. He practically has to lean into it. I love all the gun talk in those movies. Batou would be right at home on Gun-Fi. "What did you hit it with?" "Oh, just your standard issue BFG." (I know that's not the correct quote, but that's how I would have translated it.) I love that movie so hard. Need to borrow it from Hirsch and watch it again. And watch all the extras. 'n'stuff.

Yeah, it's my favorite anime of all time, but I'm just not ready to commit to that kind of expenditure to see it on Blu-Ray. GITS 2.0 is worth seeing at least once.

Yes. No, I don't know what it is. What is it exactly that you are changing? I think iTunes keeps the iLibrary meta-data in two different places. I'll google later and see if I can find the link I found previously, when I was going to try to move an entire library to a different machine, on an entirely different disk/partition/folder/geographical coordinates. Or you can just wait for someone else to pipe in with the answer.
