Dusty Chalk

So this is pretty much an open invitation for suggestions, as well as a vehicle to talk about my recent drinking binge. I tend to like porters and stouts, and surprisingly (because I don't drink coffee) java porters. I should also mention that I would prefer one of those larger corked bottles, so I can pour off a smaller portion for myself. Usually takes me over a week to finish one of them. I've been drinking a lot lately. Not a lot as in a lot, but as in a lot for me. I'll mention some recent favorites and some recent "meh": Bashah -- this one didn't really hit me upside the head as anything special, but for some reason, I kept coming back to it (maybe it was the pricetag -- $6/bottle?!?!? I can't imagine any beer being that good...). It's not one of those that really hits as you with your first swig as "wow, that's good!" -- it's more subtle than that. Sure, there are other beers that are better in certain areas, but this one succeeds by not being particularly offensive in any one area. My ex-brewer friend Dave said that it was too hoppy for him, so apparently, somewhere along the line, I have developed a taste for hops. I suspect that with this beer, it's not its hoppiness that I like, but the refinement in the choice of hops that I like. Bell's Kalamazoo Stout -- just a really good stout. London Meantime Porter -- meh. More later.

Archer -- funniest show in ages. Basically an R-rated Get Smart. Castle -- best show on television right now.

Origami is win. Almost always. Who dat? Her face looks vaguely familiar. I'm stuck on Bryce Dallas Howard, but I'm pretty sure she's not as buxom. But now I'm stuck, and can't get past her.

I wouldn't worry about it, the BH is better. Tubes, yaknow.

Incorrect. JH13's got pretty princessesses (because of the crack), T1 got 'interesting'. It's not about you, it's about your purchase, Mr. World-revolves-around-me-man. That said, the T1 purchase is more interesting the JH13 -- that's just the FOTM. ;P

Sweet! I took a course in electronic music composition in college just so I could sit in front of a Fairlight CMI. I'm sure your ambitions are higher than that, of course.

Oceansize, Feed to Feed -- jesus christ these guys are good, probably a little too ambient/chill for the current Porcupine Tree crowd, but they do wallop once in a while (probably proportionately less than PT). Also more indie-sounding. And British. Which in my book is a good thing. Lead vocalist sounds somewhere between Joe Jackson and Eddie Vedder. In some ways, I like them better than PT. It's too bad this is limited, I'll try to get a copy, but I'm not paying more than retail for it. Especially if the band doesn't see the extra dosh. Oh, and what it is: get this -- 3 DVD/4 CD souvenir of the event of a series of live concerts in which, to celebrate their birthday, they played their entire catalog. So they didn't just play entire albums, they played all of their entire albums...er...all of their albums in their entirety, that is. EDIT: Plus, they funny: Here, gib a listen.

What's funny is, on a Windows machine, a clean install means you're less inept.

Yeah, $600 is a killer price.

I prefered it when it had blood and was called a Gwar concert...but that was still pretty cool. I endorse the cheerleader eating movement.
