  1. Delicious leftover bulgogi don from yesterday's dinner at Sushi Jin with some friends IRL. It was just an insane amount of food. I had 1/3 yesterday (with pictured miso soup, and some not-pictured sushi) and the rest today, and overate both times, so it was at least 4 meals. Example:
  2. Aw, man, the pics got deleted. Anyway, morbid warning: this is a story about a death, and it's very sad. If I seem intolerant to bullying, it's not because I feel bullied, but it's because I think we should practice not bullying, so that we can be legitimately and righteously indignant to the real bullies. This is bullying to the extreme. Fuck Kiwifarms.
  3. Happy birthday, Greg! (party favour noise)
  4. Examples: "...If I had a dick, would you know it? If I had a dick, would you blow it?..." XD Goddamn, I love Shirley.
  5. Happy birthday, Justin! (party favour noise)
  6. This. When I do my vocal lessons, I have to be really careful -- even though I have acoustically absorbative barriers between my monitors and my microphone, sound has a tendency to go around barriers, so you can't possibly sound-proof-ily seal between the mic and the speaker, but you can do things to minimize them. One is to use omnidirectional microphones everywhere, but especially on that amp. Shotgun microphones are even more directional, so perhaps you need a shotgun microphone for that particular type of application. But the important thing is not just to look at that particular signal chain (both electrical and acoustic), but secondary ones as well. If one of the other monitors is bleeding into one of the other microphones, that could be your problem. Or headphones. But yes, feedback destroyers exist (I'm sure Aaron used them with Thing3, considering how loud they played) and they've gotten to the point where they're dynamic -- they pop in and notch filter the feedback out -- and then they pop out, so they don't degrade the signal with a permanent notch filter.
  7. Mmm...Tito Puente is good stuff!
  8. I've been studying all week, so have eschewed my usual variety of musicks. I somehow managed to accidentally create a Testtone-adjacent radio station in Tidal using just one track, but it literally played several tracks I recognized from Knucks' show including the opening track from last night. I don't remember which track. XD Tidal doesn't track which "track radio" stations I play, and yesterday I switched to the new Lustmord/Karin Park album, Alter (dambient), which worked just as well for studying, so it's not at the top of my Play Queue any more. EDIT: Potentially one of these: Aim, "Cold Water Music" Fila Brazillia, "Subtle Body"
  9. I believe @cutestoryhas a Chord, but I forget which one. He posted about it here (on head-case), so feel free to trawl the archives.
  10. New Muse XX Anniversary RemiXX of Origin of Symmetry -- other fans are saying it's too clinical, but I'm enjoying it without reservation. New Helloween is same top tier power metal as all previous Helloween. They added keyboards (again), Dusty like (even though it seems a little forced at times, it's not enough to ruin it for me).
  11. Happy birthday, Kerry! (party favour noise)
  12. This is so awesome, thank you for posting this. It's like a bizarre combination of Pentatonix and Nightwish, I love it. 😸
  13. I realize this is ancient, but what don't you like about the SVS? I really dig their aesthetic, both small foot print: ...and "reassuringly expensive":
  14. The lead singer/front person/keyboardist to one of my favourite bands, Kyros, came out as trans today. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQJgCGbnNQD/?utm_medium=copy_link The lead singer/front person/bassist to another favourite band, Flummox, underwent The Surgery a couple weeks ago. https://www.instagram.com/p/CPYTc4ZncFI/?utm_medium=copy_link So…I best start brushing up on how best to be a trans ally.
  15. For those of us who are Morgan James fans, she's doing a "pay what you can" live stream this Saturday: https://www.stageit.com/morgan_james/laurel_canyon/97802 I know there are fewer of us, but ditto Alicia Witt: https://www.stageit.com/alicia_witt/june_tunes/98825
  16. Sunday morning jazz
  17. Condolences, Todd, and to your family. Well remembered.
