Sunday sauce style ghoul ash -- ground turkey and pork loin cubes for meat; mushrooms, beans, okra, carrots, onions for veggies, pizza sauce and rocoto pepper paste and spices to bring it all together. Meat, spices, oil, and eventually onions were seared in the bottom of a pot, then all of it was transferred to the slow cooker while I day drank. and...ah, shit, I forgot the celery...dagnabit...

I listened to Rush 50 today, going back to Pete Namlook (ambient) in a minute. Took a detour first to listen to Bobby Rush's Rush Hour -- good ol' funk, very easy to listen to.

RIP former federal prosecutor Jessica Aber, US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia -- a Biden appointee -- until January, when she stepped down to allow Trump to appoint his own. She was found dead a little less than 24 hours ago. Investigation is ongoing. She was 43.

New Steven Wilson (The Overview) Two tracks, effectively. I guess he's doing pProg again. I liked it. His head voice...sounds like mine. I don't consider that good, as I am barely a beginner, and I don't practice. That said, I do like his more than mine (we all hate our own recorded voices), I am just not sure what the intangible (to me) difference is.

A little late for Ravel's 150th, but this was my great (ahem) gateway to Ravel's orchestrating genius. I heard his orchestration before I heard Mussorgsky's solo piano version, and have since fallen in love with his genius. Even from his treatment of the opening Promenade, there's a bit more breadth, a bit more gravitas, a bit more there there. Not afraid to solo instruments, or interleave solo instruments against a delicate backdrop of small subsets of the orchestra, it is a masterpiece of restraint. cf. "The Old Castle" movement All the better to contrast the bombast. cf. "The Great Gates of Kiev" movement

It's Ravel's 150th, so listening to some Ravel -- soloists Yuja Wang, Martha Argerich, Heifetz, et al. Will try to squeak in some orchestral works or his arrangement of Pictures.
