  1. Just so pure and classic. Makes me think of my vocal teacher from back when. That vibrato is so gentle and subtle and perfect.
  2. Yesterday was an Isao Tomita kind of day: Today is a Vangelis kind of day:
  3. I love and own a Yamaha FS1R. (Haven't sold it yet.) I bought it when it came out. It's a niche product, with its formant filtering engine designed to help emulate the human voice (it is the technology that led to Vocaloid software), but at the time it just sounded vaguely voice-like. My designs were to use it differently -- feed different voices into different dirt boxes, because dirt boxes respond differently depending on the shape of the input. Never followed through, to my lifelong regret. And yeah, Into Deep was my biggest entry point into the world of music of Oliver Lieb. Such a great album. EDIT: Jiminy, my TX81Z isn't worth much, but the FS1R can go for a pretty penny. I should see if it still works before I sell it.
  4. Oops! Happy belated birthday, Todd! (party favour noise)
  5. Happy birthday/Feliz Cumpleaños, my friend! (ruido de favores de fiesta)
  6. This vocal performance is amazing. Her control of dynamics, her vibrato (on the "ng"! Do you know how hard that is?!?), her range (those lows!), just...(chef's kiss)
  7. Aisles, most recent EP, Obras de Los Jaivas (immediately listened to it a second time, it's great, especially 2nd and 4th tracks), now listening to 2023 album, Beyond Drama and it's great, too. Energetic, modern prog rock with lovely, lovely clean vocals
  8. Listened to Vol 4 and Sabotage earlier, on to my favourite album of (early) Ozzy era: ...which has 5 of my favourite tracks by them (Back Street Kids, You Won't Change Me, Gypsy, All Moving Parts (Stand Still), and Dirty Women).
  9. I am listening to the new Gaupa EP, Fyr ... again. Really great. Two singles in the middle, bookended by two other songs, this being the epic opener:
  10. That's easily my favourite song off that album. It is epic.
  11. I'm closer to my favourite fish&chipster now, I should go back there. I miss a great fish&chips (oil so hot it flash fries the fish inside). The bulgogi is kind of bizarre for such a small place, but one of these days, I will try...nah. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ecRrPwnM6ToJyVxm9 Me, rn: sammich from Wegmans
  12. Marta's debut album is a collaboration with Tricky, so of course it's good. Moody as shit, too. I'm in.
  13. Damn, and here I was thinking it was just another singer/songwriter with a uke. Wowzers, so glad I finally got around to listening to (and watching a little) this VIRTUOSO! Thank you! Virtuosity without abandoning musicality, my beloved. I was in Guitar Center today (selling guitars, didn't buy anything), and I was severely tempted by a Fender Fullerton Jazzmaster Ukelele. Oh well, maybe I'll get an Enya Moon 5-string Taimane Signature Ukelele after I make big Epstein Didn't Kill Himself Files Do Exist Bucks.
  14. Lots of Luedji Luna. Lots and lots. And just a little extra.
  15. Unholy carp, that hits hard. I don't usually listen to lyrics, but because of the title was intrigued enough, and ... I mean...just... Limerence was a very important word to me in the late 90's, as learning of its existence helped me to get over a girl. Learning there was a word for what I was feeling let me know that I wasn't alone in feeling it.
  16. I just watched Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (season 1) over the last week...for free on YouTube. Back to studying...
  17. Condolences. That's tragic and awful.

Not to be a party pooper, but isn't Prime Days a scam?
  19. YouTube algorithm gave me this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0a3HdFyexE Preview render fail. Jazz Fusion It was awesome, so I looked up some of the others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DimxQV6oCWI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmgGcE8vNPE ...which sent me down the Senri Kawaguchi rabbit hole (she's a jazz fusion drummer). I determined that she always associates with (chef's kiss) musicians, so I've been listening to a lot of her projects: Senri Kawaguchi Triangle, Jazz Avengers, et al. -- in addition to Nankai Trio. Antarctica will probably be my album of the year. I really love jazz fusion. EDIT: Oh, I fell down a different rabbit hole a while ago, while following the different acts that keyboardist Kiyomi Otaka from Casiopea was in. One of them was Kiyo*Sen, which was the two of them in a keyboard/drum collaboration.
