  1. I had a Musical Fidelity A300^CR power amp driving those things, and they weren't suffering in the low bass department at all.
  2. Nice pictures. I especially like this one: I'm not a Prima Luna fan, but you could make me into one.
  3. Believe it or not, there are other hobbies more insane than this one. Microphones, for example -- there are people who collect microphones. This one, for example, is, offhand, the most expensive one I could find in a readily available catalog -- which means there are easily more expensive ones that aren't in the catalog: What else you got?
  4. I have the balanced Max in my list. It overshadows the E.A.R. HP4 by a margin. And I really don't see this thread degenerating much more than that last post. So if you blame anyone, blame yourself.
  5. A pair of cans over a straightjacket would be appropriate.
  6. Do you hate us?
  7. Your momma so fat When I wrote a haiku 'bout her I had to use extra syllables
  8. Nice backpedal there Sausage fact'ry floor sweepings You still crybaby
  9. Actually, I am a fan of lifelessness in audio equipment. That's the one I have. And I still like it. Have you heard any of their other Confidence series? Big difference is the tweeter -- the Confidence tweeters are the Esotar, whereas many of their other models have the Esotec tweeters.
  10. That said, listen to Hirsch -- he knows his tubes. (And caps, for that matter.)
  11. You might want to try some new tubes, like the Golden Dragons. Dry presentation, nice impact, bass comes with burn-in, slight loss in microdetail -- yup, they should fit the bill.
  12. I could be wrong, but this sounds like "dual differential DACs" to me. Yeah, it'll make a difference, but I don't know how much.
  13. MJG insults; Cries when insulted in kind; Not gonna 'pol'gize No, seriously dude, I hope you know that when we trade quips, it's nothing personal. I certainly take it as the humour I'm sure it's intended as, when you call me "sausage" and such. I was just trying to hit lower than "douche bag", perhaps I sunk a little too low, but think of where the bar was set, and who set it.
  14. Actually, it was. Ask anyone who's ever watched a movie with me -- thrice? Hirsch? You...you...douche water waste, you.
  15. Lights off, TV on; Don't notice when shit explodes; but loud when film soft.
  16. Something about a whore and a sailor convention.
  17. In my case, it's purely convenience. There are vids out there, that I enjoy seeing (such as the movie trailers on apple.com) that are in .mov format, and I don't feel like looking for it in another format. Ditto Real. I found something called "Real Alternative" which is great in that it plays real format vids just fine (you can't press stop, though -- you have to re-open the file if you do), but doesn't subsume the computer like RealPlayer does. Now I need to find "Quicktime Alternative". I don't feel like installing software I will never use (iTunes).
  18. Feh. Does it matter? I haven't got that, neither.
  19. You know, every review I read of that JAS audio speaker said it really fares well with higher end kit -- specifically, the amp. With what was it being amped?
  20. It must depend on a lot of things -- what you're looking for in an amp, what headphones you drive, what source you use, how deaf you are -- because I've not heard a single RS amp that I liked, but my headphone of choice at the time was an AT W2002.
  21. Just out of curiosity, why "392"? And on another note, yours looks exactly like mine -- fingerprints and all.
  22. Damit, where's a thousand dollars or two when you need them?!?!?
  23. Cool! Thanks for the link...
  24. I've heard worse.
  25. Did you see Fremer's review of that? He loved it. And the bass thing shouldn't be a problem with us headphone listeners (and decent speakers), or is it part of the RIAA curve? I am asking, not to egg you on, nor to contradict you, but because I am genuinely curious/seeking more education.
