Well, it's a double-edged sword. Since, when they invoke the rules, you won't be able to go back and edit your posts, you have to abide by these unknown rules now. It's a bit of a conundrum.

There are rules? Someone forgot to tell me... Hiya, what do you make?, what're your favourite recordings?, etc.

No, that's not a typo, but no, I don't truly mean "at any price" greater than US$200, I just mean this: I recently put my speaker rig back together. The Manley Stingray -- at 12 tubes, 8 of them power tubes -- is just way too warm for a closed room in the summer. I am seriously considering getting this amp as my "summer amp". What is the next step up from that? Obviously, it doesn't have any competition at the US$200 price point, but is there something in the "not much more" category that I should be considering? It'd be nice if it was a pretty strong amp (I.E. ~> 50 Wpc). The Dynaudios suck current like a Greek sucks down souvlaki. (With apologies to any Greeks out there -- that was a Slowdive reference.) I looked on audiogon, but I didn't see anything that struck my fancy... PS I couldn't decide if this goes in the speakers category or miscellaneous, so feel free to move it if this is an inappropriate venue.

Dagnabit, I left my copy at home.

Oh, you weren't counting the shield when you said, "4"? Never mind then. -
Yeah. I read an article a couple years ago that said that the porn industry was probably going to decide the hi-def wars.

Technically, you would need 6 for a balanced operation -- but no headphone is truly balanced. -
DT831 is the headphone I use with my Radii HAP-02.

I've actually recently settled on a best headphone/best amp pairs of my collection: DT770/600 is the best headphone for my Radii HAP-03 I been using my DT770/250 with my Singlepower Supra/SDS/WE at home, and it's a veryfine match (but so is the HP-2) The DT770/250 also goes well with the Wheatfield HA-2. I forget what headphone I have been using with my Radii HAP-02 at work, it's another Beyer. What can I say? I'm a Beyer nut. Another couple of synergistic combinations comes from the Hirsch collection: He used to have a pair of non-woodied CD3000's that he ran from an old X-CANS (modded -- caps, and possibly op-amps) that was a wonderful combination. Also, the Fisher/Fischer/?sp driving the K1000's have always done it for me. He had a chintzy little standalone CD-ROM drive as the source -- not even transport into some sort of upgrade DAC, but the analog outs were the actual source! -- that he ran through some sort of analog harmonizer/excitifier or some such bullshit that raised the db passively or something -- and that combination sounded SWEET! I think upgrading the cables on the K1000 is crucial to get rid of its criticisms (harsh highs).

What is the best relatively cheap DAC I can get?
Dusty Chalk replied to TheSloth's topic in Home Source Components
You can get a new MSB Link DAC III for US$359, I think -- used should be even less. The nice thing about that setup is, you can upgrade piecemeal. You can get a P1000 power supply later...then an upsampling upgrade...then the half nelson (or full nelson)...etc. -
Could you describe the rooms? I think there was something wrong in the first case, because your description of the 72SE doesn't sound like what I heard -- but I heard them in a dedicated dealer's showroom.

I have no idea, but it looks really nice unfinished.

I shaved my head a few years ago. I ended up looking like an uncircumsized penis. I promise never to do it again. At least, not until I lose some weight.

/wanders off to look up 'Neville Chamberlain' Was he like Ghandi? It takes a certain amount of already existing charisma to pull something like that off -- I'm not saying you don't have it, but hungrych definitely doesn't have it.

Allow me to tell you a story. There once was a guy, and he had a girlfriend. And he had a "mistress" on the side. Most of us knew. When he left the girlfriend, he didn't start being truly open about the mistress, but started a relationship with another girlfriend. Well, this girlfriend started talking shit about the "mistress" -- tramp, whore, etc. But also just generally mean and bad things. And we were like, no -- I mean, yeah, about the tramp part, that's why he went to her. Because he wasn't getting what he needed from the first girlfriend. But that doesn't make her a bad person. Well, I have since stopped being friend with boyfriend and girlfriend, and am now pretty good friends with "mistress". Do you know what? She's a really nice person. And no, I'm not sleeping with her. She got a little messed up by that (sort of like sleeping with a married man), but she's over it (happily married now, herself -- to someone else). Here's the funny part -- I was surprised to find out she was a nice person. Even though I didn't believe gf#2, she still repeated it enough times that I began to believe it, subconsciously. So, moral of the story? If you repeat something enough times, people will believe it. If you repeat something enough times -- even if it isn't true -- people will believe it. If you repeat something enough times, with enough emphasis, people will believe it. Goebel knew. Hitler knew. It's a war of words, and it has to be fought. The unfortunate part is -- no-one wins.

Mink Oil? I know you use that for nice leather shoes, don't know if you would still use it if it's for a surface that touches one's skin/head.

Dagnabit, I missed it!

Billy, you are so full of shit.

Someone post a link, quick, please -- I need context (as it is, I don't get it).
