And just to get this conversation back on track... I'd love to, and possibly will, when I am in the market for an amp for my currently non-existent 4070's and ESP-950's. Probably next summer, I think.
-
Yeah yeah, takes one to know one and all that. Touch yourself in the daytime. Difference is, I'm right. If you're going to be a fucking pedant like I am (that's "your majesty king fucking pedantness" to you), you should at least be correct about it. As has already been stated, I'm just pointing out that a certain correction was fallacious. What I'm trying to do is reinforce my argument by explaining subtle shadings in what are both correct phrasings -- my personal interpretations. I never said "your" wasn't correct, I was just concurring that you were incorrect for correcting incorrectly. It is the generic buck -- that which is being saved or spent.
-
They both sound correct to me, you fucking pedant. "Bang for your buck" sounds more informal and personal, as if the writer is talking to you specifically, the reader, whereas "bang for the buck" sounds like the writer is speaking to a larger audience. Which, on the internet, he is.

Alright, maybe second-to-last person.
-
Yeah, sorry if I snapped -- I just resented the implication. I am the last person to be accused of "more expensive == better".
-
I said I heard them, not compared price tags.

Possibly, but not likely. After having heard Justin's KGSS and Blue Hawaii, I'm kind of spoiled. I have a Stax amp that will work for now (need to work out some sort of adapter) until I can save up the dosh. But it's not exactly on the top of my list of things to get, so this is quite a ways off. I agree it shore does look purdy, though. Wonder how it sounds, you heard it? And whether or not it is truly balanced. I don't think so. (folds arms and puts on faux-frowny face)

It is my humble opinion that 580V isn't that different from 600V.
-
Or we can do something a little bit more 'elite'.
-
Okay, this one may actually meet the criteria.

Oh, and love the "influence" list (on her MySpace site). And her singing style (especially on Opheliac) reminds me of someone -- I can't put my finger on it. Anyone know of whom she reminds me?
-
Okay, I take back what I said in the now listening thread, this is outstanding. Those are real harpsichords, not presets, and the music is nicely layered, hearing more things on every listen. Listen carefully, for example, to what she does with her voice during "Second Hand Faith". On first glance, it sounds like a Fiona Apple thingy. But those shifts from head-voice to chest-voice sound...I don't know what the word is...unreal? "Heard It All" is easily my favourite track. So...checking out her website, Opheliac is temporarily out-of-print and they're offering it at a discounted download, but without the extras (whatever those are)...think I'll wait until it comes back into print. I like extras. And apparently they were robbed almost two months ago. So if you like her stuff, buy it eventually. She would definitely fit right in with the DC goth/industrial crowd.

No, he said he didn't hear them on the Grand Utopia Be's.

Are new headphones getting better, and if so, how much?

He meant silver-colored grill. Everyone knows that the HDx00 series is carbon-fiber-based. -
This thread explains nothing, but you should still read it. Oh, and also feel free to come up with your own design. Competition is good.
-
241x31?
-
Feel free! And thanks in advance. And thanks to you other guys for liking my idea.

Hey, I just noticed, all the attachments from this thread have been deleted (I'm assuming during the upgrade). You guys who posted before ought to post again. I'm not posting mine again because I've upgraded it. Sean, don't post your old ones, come up with an original idea for Head-Case. (PS So that's you who did HeadAmp? Good job on that one, I've always liked that logo.)

Sonic T-Amp DC input polarity?
Dusty Chalk replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Headphone Amplification
It's not for me, I got it for someone for their K1000's, and I wanted to get them a power supply as well. What did you get for a power supply, from whom, link please, etc.? I heard $10, but I can't find it for less than $20. I don't want to get a Rat Shack one, I've had bad experiences with those (two that died in less than a year each). Admittedly, this was a while ago, but still... I already have what I need to know to get one from anywhere that sells these things, but wouldn't mind hearing about positive experiences. I should, just for laughs, try it on my power hungry Dynaudio Special 25's. Or my crappy ancient Pioneer CS-05's. -
I suspect that's the point. Uh, I remember the name Bob, but I don't remember anything ever coming of it -- what was it?
-
Alright, fixed the head, took off the tongue (decided I didn't like it) and made the headphones more abstract by removing the headband. Can't seem to figure out the right curves to get a pretzel, though, so you're stuck with hand-drawn. I know it sucks, but...at least I'm trying.

I am unaware of this -- what crowd would that be?

Leasing is a rip-off. Before you lease, make sure you do a serious number comparison with (a) your downpayment, and ( your monthly payment, and you'll find that it's really not that different to buy. I agree with the advice of buying used. A car loses most of its value in the first couple of years. Don't buy from someplace like CarMax -- the price ends up being not that different. You need to 'network' -- call a friend who knows someone who knows someone, etc. Eventually you'll run into someone who knows someone who's selling their car...to you. Free papers and Craigslist are also ways to go. That said, your primary concern seems to be "fun to drive". Test drive the Mazda3 and a Subaru Impreza WRX...STi? I think...the latter won Consumer Reports "best 'fun to drive' car", the latter won the Dusty Chalk seal of 'fun to drive' approval. If I hadn't been unemployed when I needed a new car, I would have bought one. Between the last car and the new one, I drove a Mazda3 for a month, and by the end of the month, I was smitten. Mitsubishis are fun to drive too. My sister's little Lancer has nice 'pep'.

If she's anything like my friends from that particular circle of people, she is wearing leather...underneath...

You say that like it's a bad thing. Consider my interest piqued.
