Feel free! And thanks in advance. And thanks to you other guys for liking my idea.

Hey, I just noticed, all the attachments from this thread have been deleted (I'm assuming during the upgrade). You guys who posted before ought to post again. I'm not posting mine again because I've upgraded it. Sean, don't post your old ones, come up with an original idea for Head-Case. (PS So that's you who did HeadAmp? Good job on that one, I've always liked that logo.)

Sonic T-Amp DC input polarity?
Dusty Chalk replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Headphone Amplification
It's not for me, I got it for someone for their K1000's, and I wanted to get them a power supply as well. What did you get for a power supply, from whom, link please, etc.? I heard $10, but I can't find it for less than $20. I don't want to get a Rat Shack one, I've had bad experiences with those (two that died in less than a year each). Admittedly, this was a while ago, but still... I already have what I need to know to get one from anywhere that sells these things, but wouldn't mind hearing about positive experiences. I should, just for laughs, try it on my power hungry Dynaudio Special 25's. Or my crappy ancient Pioneer CS-05's. -
I suspect that's the point. Uh, I remember the name Bob, but I don't remember anything ever coming of it -- what was it?

Alright, fixed the head, took off the tongue (decided I didn't like it) and made the headphones more abstract by removing the headband. Can't seem to figure out the right curves to get a pretzel, though, so you're stuck with hand-drawn. I know it sucks, but...at least I'm trying.

I am unaware of this -- what crowd would that be?

Leasing is a rip-off. Before you lease, make sure you do a serious number comparison with (a) your downpayment, and ( your monthly payment, and you'll find that it's really not that different to buy. I agree with the advice of buying used. A car loses most of its value in the first couple of years. Don't buy from someplace like CarMax -- the price ends up being not that different. You need to 'network' -- call a friend who knows someone who knows someone, etc. Eventually you'll run into someone who knows someone who's selling their car...to you. Free papers and Craigslist are also ways to go. That said, your primary concern seems to be "fun to drive". Test drive the Mazda3 and a Subaru Impreza WRX...STi? I think...the latter won Consumer Reports "best 'fun to drive' car", the latter won the Dusty Chalk seal of 'fun to drive' approval. If I hadn't been unemployed when I needed a new car, I would have bought one. Between the last car and the new one, I drove a Mazda3 for a month, and by the end of the month, I was smitten. Mitsubishis are fun to drive too. My sister's little Lancer has nice 'pep'.

If she's anything like my friends from that particular circle of people, she is wearing leather...underneath...

You say that like it's a bad thing. Consider my interest piqued.

Sonic T-Amp DC input polarity?
Dusty Chalk replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Headphone Amplification
Yes it is. So is getting other people to do one's work. Thanks! Isn't sarcasm wonderful? -
Here is my entry. (Someone feel free to clean it up.)

Sonic T-Amp DC input polarity?
Dusty Chalk replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Headphone Amplification
Exactly. I have the amp, don't have the power supply. I was hoping it would indicate on the power supply, so if someone has one, please do tell. I'm an atheist, so...nothing including prayers. -
Does anyone know what the polarity is of the Sonic T-Amp DC power input? TxIA...

I've been tempted to try this, as one of the guys is local. They also do a Toshiba-based universal, but play it down. They like the Sony better. Try searching on "JLTi".

Quoted for appreciation.

As you may heard from the previous users, these equipment is not just a small boxes for the general audiophile but the real hi-end product for the pure music reproduction. <--- What is a general audiophile and why is he not concerned with pure music reproduction? --> General audiophile only spends hundreds of dollars; real hi-end (as opposed to high-end) is in the thousands of dollars...or at least should be. You will see when you receive DA100. <---- Cool, I was just thinking how nice it would be to not have to wear contacts anymore... the DA100 will apparently help with that. --> It will be flying very fast towards your head, so you will definitely see it coming. It will resemble a very rapidly growing cardboard box. You should probably duck. Your DA100 are now under burn-in stage and will be shipping before this Friday. <---- My DA100 are eh? They are sending me more then one?!?! --> Maybe they're dual monoblocks? All the tracking information will be mailed to you as soon as the product leave the factory. <---- Why are they mailing the tracking info? It will take just as long to get here! --> So they left off one letter, big deal. And if they really did mean "mail", as in "snail", even then, no, packages take longer than letters. Thank you again and we will update you very soon. <--- Good, I am about due for an update anyway! --> GEv2.0!!! Do you get a bigger penis? Does your girlfriend turn into Jennifer Biel or Koo Stark? Or perhaps you just learn how to dance or pilot a helicopter. "Whoa, I know kung fu."

Baby Jesus Pretzel I think I have found my religion. Thou shalt have no other idols before me...which is good that you're a pretzel then, because I worship pretzels.

Are new headphones getting better, and if so, how much?
Dusty Chalk replied to aerius's topic in Headphones
Um, they just put out the K701. And of course there's Koss, whose state-of-the-art is the ESP-950. But who knows how long that's been around. And what happened with the Qualia? Didn't that just come out? That was extremely short-lived. Was that intended to be a limited edition thing from the beginning? So their current state-of-the-art is the SA5000? -
Mini-Me stars in thriller? No, wait, that's LL Cool J. Never mind.

Are new headphones getting better, and if so, how much?
Dusty Chalk replied to aerius's topic in Headphones
I agree that Grado is doing different, but not necessarily better. Ditto Sennheiser. I think the DT880 is Beyer's best headphone yet, so I think they're still improving. I also think Audio Technica's L3000 is their best (dynamic) headphone yet, so it seems that they're more or less still improving as well. AKG made a bad decision getting rid of the K1000 -- that is such a different headphone, it's kind of hard to beat. I'd love to see them do a flagship version of that. That said, they've always made good headphones, so they're kind of hard to criticize, of course they're going to stumble, eventually. Long and short: unlike the (headphone) amplifier industry, which is definitely improving, the headphone industry, while not necessarily on the decline, still has room for improvement as well. It's just like stocks, sometimes they're up, sometimes they're down. I think we're in a "noisy" area of the graph, where the overall trend has plateaued (?sp). You know, as much as I hate the PS-1's inordinate amount of bass, I can't criticize the quality of the bass -- perhaps it would respond well to EQ? -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv39ZnjtG3Y Warning: do not watch this video if you can't handle turning just a little bit gayer than you already are. Me, I can handle it, because that would result in me being merely heterosexual.

Would you mind identifying those, please? I recognize the L3000, and the Qualias. What are those, HP-1 or PS-1? And what are the others? Are those other Grado's RS-1's?
