Is this really news around here? I don't really follow specs...but I have to admit to being curious.

So, my amp sort of had a makeover. :D

"Experiment"? What was experimental about it? Where is he selling it? Do you mind if I contact him directly about it (I'm thinking you won't, since it might mean that you get paid sooner) -- if so, whose amp should I ask about? -
I have a small stash of CCa's. Unfortunately, several amps I own use those kinds of tubes, so there's no way I'd part with any of them, and I bought out my supplier, so...there ya go. (Musical Fidelity X-CANv2 -- several other MF X-tube components; Radii HAP-03; will probably own an EarMax Pro again at some point in the future)

three meals from Pilin Thai -- I'm not coming out of my office until I get something done, other than to go home for the night (...erm...) to get some sleep for the next two days.

Considering I do most of my listening (not necessarily critical listening, just most of it), I disagree with downgrading. I need a tonally balanced, non-fatiguing-over-long-term-listening, non-heartbreaking-if-it-gets-stolen-priced setup. I'm not necessarily following that last rule, as my most expensive amp, interconnects, and source are all here at work. But yeah, they look great.

I don't want to look at them on Head-Fi, I want to look at them here!!!1!

Not really. I think I have an inherently addictive personality. Maybe things like: my mom used to always make the same thing for dinner (or same few things); used to always let me play the same games -- so maybe she just encouraged sameness. And I think you meant Head-Case, not Head-Fi, FTL.

Are you kidding? Yes, please! Or, as they say in the a/s/l threads -- postpixplzkthxbye

What is your current project, or what will be your next project?

It'll be fine if it's DXD. -
At the Maryland meet, someone had a pair of Beyers (well, not really -- they had some other driver in them) that were all-black -- I couldn't even get them that black on the Beyer Manufacture site. I think I'm going to write Beyer.

recommendations for good XLR interconnects
Dusty Chalk replied to earwicker7's topic in Audio Accessories
No, I think it's because we gave him too much shit about his isolation booth. Either that, or he realized that there's no point in getting an isolation booth and getting away from it all, unless he also forgoes the internet. -
"Koshka" is a great name for a cat. If I ever name a dog, it's going to be either "suka" or "sukin sin" (girl/boy, respectively).

Quarterly blood test -- lipitor fucks with the kidneys or something. Actually, this place is easily the best sushi shop I've ever been to -- I doubt they do leftovers. They're closed over the weekend, so I bet they throw everything out on Friday.

I should eat something -- I'm supposed to fast until tomorrow, but I haven't eaten anything today yet. I think I'll have sushi.

No, I don't have this problem...with books. Now, with CD's...yes, I definitely have this problem. I do read a lot, I just know exactly what I want to read. I do a lot of special orders and graphic novels. My last purchases looked something like: Sergei Lukianenko/Sergey Lukyanenko/however you want to spell it: Nightwatch/Daywatch/Twilightwatch. Tommyrot: The Art of Ben Templesmith (I need to pick up Blood-Stained Sword) Y: The Last Man, Vol. 9, Motherland Blade of the Immortal, Vol. 15 (for some reason, I can't seem to find my copy -- I got a little lost after 13, and need to start over 14-17) Berserk, Vol. 17 ...and a bunch of Palm OS programming books, and a linux book or two -- I don't actually read these, I just put them on my shelf at work to make me look smart.

Well, they're still interesting -- not trance trance, like ... I dunno, pick some techno compilation of Trance Traxx -- but...yeah, pretty much. They went psychedelic for a while (forecasting the change in the weather with tracks like "Moon Revolutions"...and then Second Nature is pretty much a trance record with vocals. Tracks like "Lucidogen" are still very good, but nothing like ...Plays Kurt Weil or T.V. Sky and/or Only Heaven, my favourite two albums by them.

Saturday Night -- Crack the Sky -- they rocked. Were having an off night, but they still managed to rock. Friday Night -- High Blue Star, Red This Ever, and Attrition (25 year anniversary tour) -- High Blue Star, in particular, blew me away. Attrition -- like the Young Gods and others of similar ilk -- have become a trance band. Laurie sang with them, she's a very powerful singer. I really need to get my shit together and start doing this shit myself.

I don't see it that way -- as everybody winning. Yes, there are a lot more options, but some of them are crappy. You get enough newbies burned (and some of those "newbies" write for stereophile), and the whole hobby leaves a bad taste in their mouth. So that cancels the growth that he "helped" (he didn't do it by himself, he just gave a place for people to go when headwize was frequently down due to bandwidth restrictions). That still doesn't take care of the profit, nor of the burned newbies. Some of my best friends are newbies. L, I was a newbie once, and still am when it comes to DIY and understanding design. So what you're saying is, who cares about me? Well fuck you very much.
-
You say that like it's a bad thing. Those are all hypothetical what-if statements. They're there to make you think.

You're also being wrong. What if it had started out as a co-op? What if, say, 17 individuals got together, pooled their resources, and bought a domain name, set up a forum, and so on? What if one of those individuals had a 50% share, and the other 16 had a 50% share -- who would be the "owner"? What if one of those individuals had invested 98% as much as everyone else combined (49/51 split kind of thing)? What if one of those individuals had invested 102% as much as everyone else combined (51/49 split)? What if someone initially invested 51%, but then, as expenses grew, that individual stopped paying as much, so that the total outlay became 49%? I disagree that it's as clear-cut as you would so idealistically like to describe it, Mr. paint-by-numbers.

Yeah, but much of the time, they're still digesting, whereas the lawn is mown, past completive.
-
It stopped being completely his as soon as he started accepting money from sponsoring members and advertisers. Plus, he plays it like it's a public forum, so I beg to differ.

No, this time, it was my fault. Apparently, I have two accounts there -- dustych, and Dusty_chalk. The Dusty_chalk one allowed me to log in, but not to leave a message (there was some confusion when I changed email accounts) -- the other one works fine. I waited a couple days too long on those Shahinians. Oh, well.
