Your recent music purchases
Yes, please do -- if it's better than the CD mastering, I'll be requesting a needle-drop.

HD650 - OK beaten to death, but begrudging props
Well...you ain't that slow. Sounds emo, albeit more vaguely abstract.

Good call -- I am of the same mind: in theory, I remain skeptical, but if listening proves the point, then theory be damned.

Counterpoint: Bands you love that other people don't get.
Yeah, I imagine it would -- she strikes me as the sort of musician that one "gets", live.

What do you think of "markl Mod for Denon AH-D5000" thread?
The key to this sentence being "...to high levels", since I've listened on both Grados and Audio-Technicas on my SP amp (which is a 6SN7 model).

She is an acquired taste (and in the interest of full disclosure, one I have not fully acquired yet). Curve are great.

Can you recommend some speaker stand footers?
No, I haven't yet tried the penny/nickel/quarter/dime suggestion yet, myself, but that's what I would have suggested. But now that you mention it, I can see why they might be a problem. Personally, I buy marble and/or granite samples from the local hardware store (Home Depot/Lowe's).

I have yet to do business with Vince, and nothing has happened. Coincidence? I think not. No, wait, my cat threw up.

Ideas for nano case
Another thought -- sow two pieces of leather together big enough to hold the Nano and stick your finger in to control it -- is that even remotely a possibility?

Lamest ass retort ever. C'mon, I expect better from you guys. Marc? C'mon, man, show him how it's done.

Those Sonus Fabers are supposed to be pretty good, too. Don't know anything about the amps, but if they are anywhere near on par with Sonus Faber and dCS, then that's a pretty high-falutin' system.

Post the last thing you bought!
Because you like the atmosphere and company over here in Team Audio-Technica Japan?

If you had to downgrade your entire rig to $500 ...
I have the M-Audio Sonica -- the Transit's predecessor, and it's surprisingly good. Certainly a step up from your typical OEM soundcard. I've actually traveled with a laptop, M-Audio Sonica, and Sony MDR-7506/-V6, and've been perfectly happy with that setup.

Bands you don't get that everyone else seems to like
Rush and Yes are in my top 10 favourite acts of all time. See, there's another one. And how anyone can perceive Rush as any more wankfestive than Yes is purely beyond me.

My mother doesn't have a USB connection.

Stax SR-001 Mk II (amp and headphones) M-Audio Transit And that's only US$320 new so far, I could spend a fair amount on an interconnect... And that's pretty much the niche I was thinking of when I mentioned it in that other thread. It's a pretty good all-rounder like that.

why do you put your gear in your signature?
I already put that in my personal text.

See also: the Agent Provocateur commercial And: you say that like it's a bad thing. And: the two are not mutually exclusive.

What do you think of "markl Mod for Denon AH-D5000" thread?
I guarantee you there was something wrong. Not necessarily a tube -- perhaps a cap burnt out, a diode gone bad...something. Admittedly, I never spent a lot of time with Hirsch's R10s, but I never heard clipping. And Hirsch has spent a lot of time with his R10s, and he would not tolerate it. I'm sure of it.

I love the fact that everyone refers to him as JP#'s (I presume that's pronounced jay-pee-numbers?).

I think that's really her voice there singing, but I don't think she pretends to play the guitar or sit at a keyboard, so who cares? I think we stopped caring about that in 1990. L, even Depeche Mode got outside producers to help when Alan Wilder left them.

Preamps!
No, I wasn't thinking about those -- those are the exceptions. Nope -- default cables for 600's are 1/8" w/ 1/4" adapter, I think Grados are 1/4", don't know about AKG's; Beyers are 1/8" w/ 1/4" adapters; Sony CD3000's and MDR-7506/-V6's are all 1/8" w/ 1/4" adapters. The only ones I know of that are 1/4" are: Grados (the one I have, and the ones I remember, anyway); Audio-Technica Japan (except for at least the A100Ti, which is 1/8" w/ 1/4" adapter); and Sony R10's.

Preamps!
Uh...no. And I wasn't suggesting you register at AudioKarma.org and PM the guy, I was suggesting you register at AudioKarma.org and start a thread in their McIntosh section -- it's fairly active. And I doubt you're the only person who wants to know. I actually need to log in there some time soon and put a pair of speakers up for sale over there, perhaps I'll PM the guy and point him to this thread. Or I could start a thread there, and put a link to it here. I'll probably do both, so that he can answer over there, and be aware that there are some lurkers to the thread over here. And I disagree with the assessment that 1/4" is associated with pro -- most headphone amps I've ever seen have 1/4" jacks...up until recently, what with the portable market and so on. And that includes the ones built in to my entry level CD players. But I completely agree with this: They really are like that. L, for all I know, that information is already out there on ak.org.
