  1. Well, it sure sounded like regurgitated generalizations. And now it just sounds like backpedalling. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, I just...I remain skeptical.
  2. ...by passing new laws, rather than enforcing the ones we have.
  3. I would also add the Radiient Europas and the NHT Classic series to your short list of speakers to research further and hear if possible.
  4. Yeah, after reading your 220-240V requirement, I was going to reiterate my EarMax Pro recommendation, as I believe it's built by a German company (Brocksieper). I'd look around to see if I could find a dealer and find out what local prices are.
  5. Thanks for all the info and pics!
  6. Those are some good looking cats, there.
  7. And where does LCoS fit into the scheme of things? I've heard good things about it.
  8. I've seen plenty of skeletons, but the difference with the Zillamatic is that the gears and such are black -- if you go back to the beginning of the thread and read forward, you can actually historically watch me develop my fixation for blackblackerblackest.
  9. Why would you think that? Just because Jude & Co. went through a humbling experience in one area, doesn't mean that they're humbled in another. Quite frankly, I don't see the relation.
  10. I was almost happy with my Wheatfield/L3000 combination, but then I figured out that my amp was lightly fried, and I haven't had it fixed yet. I suspect with it fixed or something, it could be a really sweet combination. I actually haven't given up on it yet.
  11. This actually has a serious answer: Sony MDR-7506/-V6.
  12. This
  13. I suspect you're both right, and that most olives don't have enough sugar, but some of the more Mediterranean olives can be quite sweet (I think they're Mediterranean).
  14. I don't know -- but definitely post your impressions once you get them!
  15. That's awesome -- the fact that it was erased is what actually piqued your interest.
  16. Well, so far, all I've found is this. I have no idea which of the two scenarios you've described it is, but I'm going to try and track some of it down. Thanks for your input!
  17. I should qualify my original response: of what I have, yes. But I've heard better, and I know better is possible. The Singlepower Supra++ preceded by the Musical Fidelity X-Tone is not comparable to the Dragon driving a rewired pair. It's better than anything else I have, but that's about all I can say.
  18. Nice shot! They could use that as the cover to an Acoustic Sounds catalog or whatnot.
  19. You know, back when the first spaceship landed (CD-T100?) -- I was immediately curious, just because of the looks (exposed tubes!). I never got a good gauge on whether or not they were liked or not. It's not just that the reactions were polarized, it's that they were all over the place. That said, I'd only get it myself if I won the lottery -- going to try to stick to universal players.
  20. No, not as a garnish...you know how vodka is fermented potatoes, and wine is fermented grapes, and beer is fermented...uh...barley? I think beer is a family of fermented things, there's rice beer, and barley beer, and wheat beer, and so on...and tequila is fermented agave -- so is there one that's fermented olives? I had a really good olive last night, and I imagine it would be good, but perhaps there's something about it which prevents it from happening (quantity?).
  21. Comfortably_numb: I'm sorry to hear that. pabbi1: mebbe Raoul should be mascot, then? Can you get a shot of him wearing them?
  22. One has to admire their high-end stuff -- I mean, c'mon, Abbey Road uses them as reference speakers (801's, I believe). But yeah, this?
  23. [/lurk]Admittedly, most of the music does not "sound natural", but try listening to Cowboy Junkies' Trinity Sessions on a good pair of headphones and telling me that does not sound natural. "Sounding natural" -- as a system -- to me means that it replicates the live experience. I'm not going to pretend that this is a cut'n'dry with headphones, as (a) there are very few binaural recordings, and you have ( your entire upstream chain to contend with, and © the concern as to whether or not the recording is an accurate recording, in that on some hypothetical perfect reproduction system, the output would match the input.[lurk]
  24. I'll see if she likes headphones -- I have a feeling not, in which case, she could only be a mascot to that subset of people who prefer speakers.
