  1. No, it's the same pair as before.
  2. Over-generalizing, but soundstage shouldn't theoretically be any omnidirectional speaker's strong point. That said, I appreciate your comments -- I think I still need to hear them myself, but the drooling has stopped. Especially the part about speed, which to me is very important. Do you remember how their midrange was? I'm a big fan of a good midrange.
  3. Wait...weren't you saying the W5000 earpads were of the larger variety? I wonder if they will fit on the A100Ti...?
  4. Thanks, but I'm trying to save up for a watch, a pair of speakers, and a PS-1. And actually, the speakers are already bought (things are going to be tight for the next two weeks).
  5. Bandwagon-jumping:
  6. I'm not sure I understand your question. Subscribed? I don't listen to a lot, so the few I listen to, I download manually. If you're talking about something else, 'splain it to me. PS This does deserve its own thread -- want me to split it out for you?
  7. So far so good -- I'm not so good at judging these things, I tend to go by their fall-apart rate (see, for example, the Denon AH-D5000). The enclosures feel inert enough.
  8. HP-1, perhaps? I remember you having a Joe Grado setup and a John Grado setup at one point.
  9. Try going through the link in this thread, rather than searching for it.
  10. Nice pics!
  11. See that thing that says Denon Link? You should connect a Denon player into it and listen to some DVD-A's and SACD's, if you don't already plan on doing so. I was thinking of either getting the Denon pair, or a Pioneer pair. Oh, and: nice!
  12. Have you seen her in anything other than The Devil Wears Prada? Have I? Does she do anything outside of acting? Or is my memory of your post the entire reason I remember her name (which is pretty scary in itself: "hot girls" ==> memory; what I had for lunch yesterday ==> /dev/null)?
  13. Ah, okay, thanks for reassuring my admittedly bizarre imagination. Me: about to go out and get some Quizno's sandwiches.
  14. Yes, we know. I think we all love that word.
  15. Well, it should be known -- what he means is that they scale even more than bastards. You really need a high-current amp to get them to shine. It's not that they'll distort or compress or sound bad or anything with lesser amperage, it's just that they won't sound as good, perhaps a little bland (alright, that counts as "sounding bad", but I hope you understand my meaning -- it's not "off" or "ill" sounding, just...not as good).
  16. Well, like I said, I don't have any of my reference recordings with me, so I can't tell you for sure, but I think this is the closest to a poor-man's L3K as I've heard. The A100Ti was too smooth (a la CD3000 -- but that may be the CD3000 earpads I was using -- won't know until I get a real pair), whereas this one appears to be retaining transients, although I haven't found anything with distinct transients to speak of yet. That said, the L3K remains untouched as my current favourite headphone that I own. It is definitely not as extended nor as impactful in the bass, and I'm having trouble telling (aural memory and all that) whether or not it's as airy and detailed. It's got some plentyfine extended upper frequencies to my ears, enough so that if these were the only headphones I have, that's not what I would be complaining about. But I suspect the L3K is cleaner. More tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after that.
  17. (shudders) Your second birthday? Ever? So that's, what, a 28-year-old cake?
  18. BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT
  19. Nice -- Amarok is one of my favourites of Oldfield's as well (inasmuch as I can choose a favourite, although usually it's whichever of his releases I am listening to at the mo')
  20. No, this would be why.
  21. More impressions on the MBL system, please.
  22. Grrr...don't have any of my reference recordings with me, so it's all classical and ambient today, I.E. just burning in. I don't seem to have one iota of anything remotely vocal. I must say, they're quite comfy, though, and the all black look (with one sliver of silver going around the earcups) is gorgeous. They isolate pretty well -- I think less than my Leatherhead, and more than my A100Ti.
  23. Got 'em, impressions later (after I've listened to 'em). They used an old case of "tuna in jelly" box to ship 'em in -- so first impression is that they literally stink, but fortunately the box inside was wrapped in plastic, so they be alright. This is definitely not a box I'll be keeping around to ship something else in later.
