  1. Still on the thought of transmission lines -- how about something like this? (Two links in "this".)
  2. Well, I don't like to speak for him, so maybe you should PM him, but I haven't heard anything to know that his opinion has changed. Though I believe his experience is with their most high-end cables.
  3. AHHH MONEY! Money is not our GOD! etc. I'm not exactly rolling in dough, but if I had a budget for vinyl, this would be on there.
  4. Paging Hirsch...Hirsch to the white courtesy telephone please...
  5. You should try cleaning them first. I have a lot of vinyl from when I was a kid (and adolescent, and post-adolescent, and young adult) -- and I treated them absolutely terribly. I tried playing them on Hirsch's rather nice rig after cleaning, and you couldn't hear a spec of dust. I think the needle even found the portions of the record that I hadn't completely worn out.
  6. That almost sounds like compression -- what amp are you using again?
  7. The discussions are good, too. Me: A 10' pair of Anti-Cables
  8. Maybe you're just being ignored.
  9. Kevin can probably draw up some plans for a DIY version.
  10. Is it the same trailer? Because I'm not wasting another 90 seconds of my life (or however long it was). Alright, yeah, I just did, typing this response, but I enjoyed typing this response more than watching that trailer. Not saying the game won't be any good, but I certainly couldn't tell from the trailer.
  11. Anti-Cables -- I've been meaning to give these a try, myself. You can ask Nate if they're worth it.
  12. Trailer sucked.
  13. Was there a question in there? Did you see these? Though I have to admit, I'm thinking about them myself.
  14. I had one with the following upgrades: HDCD, upsampling, PS1000 power supply -- all I did myself (but none of which required any soldering), this one still works. The other had some upgrades -- yes, I think they were the half nelson -- that were done by the previous owner, but required soldering, and doesn't work. I've yet to diagnose this one, but it's probably pretty simple, as it did work for a while.
  15. I've seen them go for less, but admittedly, not much less. You could probably negotiate $500 if you were patient enough. What about a DAC1, has anyone ever heard one? They gotta be pretty good. L, you could probably get a Rega Planet for $400, but it doesn't have digital inputs.
  16. Those are both good choices, as is the Ack! Dack! I think there's also the DAC-ah, but the one with which I'm familiar distorted, so I can't vouch for their quality control. I've had extensive experience with the MSB Link DAC III (I have two), and heard the Headroom briefly (but enough to put it on my "to buy" list of things to try).
  17. Seems to be a short thread. Billy -- fuck off and die. I don't perceive any foot-in-mouth disease yet. You want to keep spinning it that way, I'll keep calling you out on it.
  18. What was that video that had "Acid" in the title, where it was just a bunch of people dancing around, and they substituted smiley faces for their faces? Does anyone remember?
  19. So where does Razor fit into the chronology? On the SciFi.com website, they're calling it Season 4, but it looks like it goes into the middle of the last episode of 2.5, so I can watch it now, right?
  20. Yeah, that.
  21. Just finished 2.5. Three things: They killed Billy!!!1! (Yeah, I know, that was earlier than the last episode, but I'm still reeling.) That last episode was a serious mindfuck -- all that stuff about a year from now: Starbuck with her hair all long and freely flowing; Callie pregnant and with the chief; Lee and Dualla; the President living large like a rock star; some tiff between Starbuck and Apollo; I'm surprised they didn't get the President and the Admiral together -- sure seemed like they were heading in that direction. It's like -- we're entering serious stagnant water territory, what could we do to really shake things up a bit. And I did enjoy Callie saying, "Everyone Shut The Frak Up!!!1!" Jesus Mother Frakkin' H. Christ -- I frakkin' hate frakkin' cliffhangers.
  22. No, you're fine, I was just trying to keep a straight face, while attempting humor, myself. I mean, can you imagine transmission-line-based headphones? That said, other than the size factor, not a ludicrous idea. But if you take size (weight, form factor, looks) into account, it goes deep into ludicrous territory. Not sure where the transmission lines would go -- straight out from the ears (if it would be as big as the B&W tweeter enclosure), in a spiral shape around the ears (if bigger), or perhaps behind the head and/or into a "backpack" (if huge). Billy -- not sure what you mean by "field" -- translate?
  23. I'm not sure I understand your question -- I was thinking nautilus shell.
