  1. I'd also look at the Rega Saturn/Jupiter/Pluto/whatever the current TOTL is, for them.
  2. Cambridge Audio should be on your short list of ones to audition. Do you need any of these things: SACD? DVD-A? Computer-as-source inputs (I.E. USB, or digital w/adapter)? Preamp functionality (variable outputs)?

Well, if I was on any other forum, I'd say move the speakers and try headphones, but you already know that. Sounds like you need both more bass, and room treatments to reduce the overhang. I'd say, move to the other room.
  4. There's album art?

You may want to try moving them around, and moving around your listening position. Try putting them right in the corners, or try putting yourself right in the corners. My Special 25's go down to 30 Hz, and that's plenty bass for me, and I'm a bass-head.
  6. Burrito Brothers Burrito.
  7. And that (The Body) is my favourite episode. I agree with you about Marsters being the best actor. Whedon really put him to the test, over and over again.
  8. Sounds like you've already decided. That said, I'd keep it myself, just because I like toys.
  9. Yeah, we kind of went off on a bit of a tangent there, didn't we?

No, phase switch I found to be inadequate. MHO, I think subwoofers need to have continuous phase controls to seemlessly blend in with the speakers at that crucial crossover region. When I had the following setup: MSB Link DAC III -> MF A3 pre -> Sunfire True Sub Jr. -> MF A3 power -> Spendor S3/5 ...I didn't find the sub truly disappeared until I put it between the pre and the power and dialed in the exact right value. I realize it's not really a phase control any more, but rather a micro-delay, but IMHO, that's preferable. Despite what most would perceive as a radical difference between the Sunfire and the Spendors -- and the fact that I was listening to the Spendors in nearfield, and the sub was a good yard away on my right -- the sub absolutely disappeared.

Do you have a REL, Mr. I-love-my-Thiels?
  13. In the "recent" column on the right, this thread is showing up as, "Anyone tried the new butt...". EDIT: Great, and now I'm the last to have replied.
  14. I'd seen it before, but yes, it's great.

I agree with Tkam -- doesn't appear to be anything special, and doesn't have that valuable (to me) phase control. I say, go SVS.

Yeah, don't think of it as boom, think of it as overhead.

I added a link in your original post that hopefully might make this clearer.
  19. No, that's what I'm saying -- my thought was totally misguided. I.E. never mind.
  20. And here I was, thinking you had some long-documented hatred towards Old Bay seasoning which I had totally missed.
  21. Ah.

I'll wander off and do some research on them. Can you use them with headphones?
