I haven't had a haircut in years. Hippie, aye.- Pantload of new music from Steve Hoffman!
Actually, Hirsch would probably help you out -- he knows how to do it right. He has like 3 or 4 turntable setups, and even the cheesiest one sounds pretty damn good. Setup is to vinyl what room treatment is to speakers.- Legit headphone stands
Nice! I like that triple. Good work, Steve.- This forum looks very silly but at least it isnt censored !
The cat expresses that feeling you felt when you went to the proctologist.- This forum looks very silly but at least it isnt censored !
I think I like you already. Okay, feeling's over. (J/K...)- What are you EATING right now?
My stomach has been tender since I was sick last week, I opted for oatmeal last night as well. Hope you feel better. Did you get the bug that's been going around? I got it last Tuesday/Wednesday.- Head Case Approved Musicks
Good call -- those are the only two I own/know/can call my favorites by them, really. Has anyone posted Opeth, yet?- slow forum
The "dude" obviously does not have a dog, because if he did, it would look at him like, "what have you done with my master?"- Head Case Approved Musicks
I've noticed that quite a few of us listen to and like Camille's Le Fil: I should also take this opportunity to mention that she's coming out with a new album (her first since then) some time later this year. I can't wait, myself. Hopefully enough people will buy it that she will tour the states again (her tour for Le Fil was at such a small scale that I had to see her in the French embassy).- Post the last thing you bought!
Bunch of shirts, some as low as US$4.08. Sweet.- Post the last thing you bought!
- Anyone heard both the AV123 Strata Mini and Horn Shoppe Horn?
An "integrated" is basically a power amp + preamp. A preamp is basically a source-selection device that has volume control. If you connect your source to a power amp to speakers without any way of controlling your volume, it will always play at maximum volume. The benefits of an integrated is (a) one less pair of interconnects, ( one less place to plug in power, and in some cases, © size. The benefits of "separates" is (a) modularization, and ( advanced ability to fine-tune your system by mixing and matching components. I've heard neither speaker, but've heard good things about the AV123 one.- slow forum
How much was it going for? I presume more than the $99 blowout price that I saw at CostCo...but how much more? EDIT: Never mind, just looked it up, seems to be $500 is the price to beat. I was at CostCo just a week ago, and they had an entire Philips surround microsystem (less the tubes), including two floorstander fronts (the ones in the back were standmount 2-ways) and a sub...for $500. I'm not sure which I want more. I think I'll stick with looking at the microsystem for now, since it's pretty close to the one I heard before. Oh, and it was already pretty killer -- I don't know about giant-killer, but it was easily the best US$100 system I'd ever heard. You go to the $500 mark, I'm not so sure.- Computer Speakers?

Thanks. Makes me glad I never got around to getting that other micro system they had.- New Emoticon? Go Tyll!!! :D
Is that the test? I always thought it was HAVING SEX WITH OTHER MEN.- Mozart vs Beethoven
Mozart was prolific as shit; Beethoven was innovative as all hell.- slow forum
- Is it just me...?
At least it's not this guy (self-proclaimedly "gay for radiohead").- Post the last thing you bought!
That's beautiful. I'd want to buy it just to have it decorate my liquor cabinet...if I had a real one.- Would I like DT770/DT 880/DT 990?
I have two pairs of DT770's, but neither are 80 ohms. I love them, they are rather durable, and they play rock and electronica well. Others have complained about them being overly sibilant, but nothing that 10,000 khrs. of burn-in won't cure. I don't tend to be sensitive to sibilance, but neither will I argue with those with more sensitive ears than mine.- The Headcase Stax thread
Fixed that for you. If you don't want to concern yourself with biasing, get a solid state, either the 717 (used) or 727A (current TOTL solid-state model). Or a KGSS. - Post the last thing you bought!
