That's pretty much it in a nutshell. They'll improve a system if you put it between two components that aren't well impedance-matched -- as long as the "additional component in the chain" problem doesn't kick in, but in anything else, they'll be ...well... an additional component in a chain, which can only take away from clarity.

And some more buttons. I have some sorting to do. I need to get one of them containers that has lots of small compartments.

Actually, I am of the opinion that in the HD600's case, cable upgrade is practically required. It's that dramatic.

They had a bunch of laptops. but they weren't discounting them anything special, as far as I could tell. They did have quite a bit of memory, and a big display for US$10 that probably could have acted as Elephas' or spritzer's headphone rack, but I don't need that much, so I passed. Need to check two computers here to see what kind of memory they take, going back tomorrow.
