Grant Morrison & Dave McKean, Arkham Asylum is especially fun because it comes with the script, so you can see just how much Dave McKean contributed to it. Neil Gaiman, Sandman the entire series is probably my favorite comic ever, I've been getting the Absolute editions. I've enjoyed what I've read of Ex Machina (which is up to vol. 5 or 6 of the trades), it's a really good anti-super-hero comic. I just bought Watchmen. Y: The Last Man is amazing, and not just because of all the lesbians.

Aw, hell yeah, that was very cool! I have a few issues with it (e.g. there are certain distortions that require polyphonic input to work -- but this is a very guitar-centric criticism), but I thought it was excellent execution and the premise is brilliant.

I think they upped the push/marketing on them, as I just read a review of it, hence my necromancy of this thread.

Miles Davis, Birth of the Cool I know everyone points to Kind of Blue as the Miles Davis album to have, but the thing is, he was seminal every step of the way. This belongs right up there with Cannonball Adderly's Somethin' Else as defining cool. Never has a title been so appropriate.

They're not that new. And 2006 wasn't that long ago. Yes, those post dates are real.
