Hoping to work on the fishing and kayaking skills this weekend out on the lake. Anyone here besides Chris have any fishing skills? I have not done it forever but I picked up two St. Croix poles and a Lew's Baitcaster and a Penn Spinning reel that I am still working on some semblance of a usable cast. I did find that I have a full fishing channel on Fios. The hosts are annoying as hell but I have picked up some interesting pointers at least.

Kayaking is really quite fun and an excellent workout. I have gotten most of the gear together to be able to spend some time on the kayak and fish, maybe even tour and camp. Getting it to the water is the most difficult part of it all but the DC area has tons of great places to paddle. I think I am going to go out and paddle the battleship graveyards at Mallows Bay next. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallows_Bay

Wanted to start a thread for those of us that are interested in the water and those things you can do around, under or on it. Not sure if there are a lot of HC'ers that partake but should be a good place to discuss if there are. Video from today's paddle on the Potomac.

I am surprised that I have not heard that Ari is in town to race in the Brompton National Championships this weekend. You saving yourself for the world's?

Definitely up for another Lake House Ride. Might even try to the throw the Kayak on the roof for some after ride rowing.

Happy Birthday guys. Beer and solder for everyone!!!

I don't see you on there. I guess Nate or Chris have to accept you into the group.

I imagine with your SACD collection that will be about a 3 week process.

Everyone survived Schaeffer Farms, though Dan's son came close to a spectacular bike failure on a downhill. I can now confirm that Dan and his son are easily 6,842% better mountain bikers than Brent.

Just a parking lot, should be impossible to miss if you can get to the park.

Happy Birthday Scott. Spending a day in Asheville sounds great.

Happy Birthday Justin.

So it looks like Me, Dan and his buddy for Schaeffer at 10:30 Saturday morning.

Anyone going to be up for a Schaeffer Farms MTB ride on Saturday morning?

It is funny, Colin and I had a conversation yesterday about when I got the first bike and we went riding in Liberty State Park. I started out in the same boat you are in. I was dying trying to get any mileage in. One of the most entertaining things is seeing the progress come on. Just a little bit longer each ride and you will be surprising yourself soon.

I think I got about 5 hours of sleep after the fine dining and Forza racing with Colin, might need a nap today.

It was a great ride and I hope we repeat the whole thing soon. Hooked up to Strava and it appears that losing a bit of weight helped with my HR as well. Typically average around 180-190 with peaks over 200. Today, average was 139 for the ride.

As he will probably be running alongside you, that is very likely. I am not sure what time people are thinking for tomorrow. If we have to swing by the shop we would not be rolling into Silver Spring until 10:30-10:45ish.

Colin might be on the MTB as we cannot break loose the fucking pedals from the Cervelo. Might have to swing by the shop in the morning before we head up to Maryland.
