Nice looking set-up there. Looks to be a very clean vintage piece. I always use white lithium grease on bearings on my turntables.

I got my gift well before the Holidays but finally got to open it up as I have been so busy lately. Awesome gift, I am so out of the loop I didn't even know these were being put out now. Thanks Jack.

I have only spent two weeks out of the last 12 in the States. I need to take a long vacation soon and catch up on PMs on several sites that I have been neglecting. Unfortunately I have Sao Paulo, Rio, Amsterdam and Berlin on my plate in January and the first week of February. Jack I have to head over to the gift exchange thread next and brag about the Blue Note you sent me. Excellent choice, thanks. Jeff

I picked up a Mint+ Beatles Blue Box that as far as I can tell none of the albums have been played.

If you guys have room for one more then sign me up.

I had a lot of trouble deciding which custom to get myself after listening to both at the Gaithersburg meet. I thought the UE10 sounded great, very neutral with nothing really standing out. Pretty well balanced and I think they are more accurate than the UE11s but in the end I decided the livelier sound from the UE11 would be more entertaining during my daily subway ride. I am waiting on the UE11s now and I am really hoping they show up before I leave on a 20 day trip the end of next week.

They are ATH-A900 frames with w1000 earpads and a woodied body that have CD3000 drivers.

DC/Baltimore Meet - 8/2/08 (TV-MA DSL, Parents Strongly Cautioned)
VPI replied to NightWoundsTime's topic in Meet Impressions
Yes we did hook up with Vicki and Justin for lunch. I left Ken on the street as a beacon and then drove through the parking lot looking for a white, or maybe red, small car that we thought might have been a Chevy. Of course we had just seen Justin's rental car 4 minutes earlier but I guess we're not the most observant guys. Somehow we got back together. As far as impressions go I listened to a few great systems. Juan's custom amp and Burmester were officially miracle workers as I actually enjoyed listening to the w1000s through this setup and I have been known to avoid the side of the room a set of AT woodies are sitting to ensure I don't accidentally listen to them. I am not typically a fan if I was not clear. Michael (Ingwe) had a huge set up for someone that traveled across several states. This was my first experience with the Duet. I really need to get one of these. I didn't hear any balanced phones out of the Bryston but the Senn's with a MacBook Pro and Duet as source sounded quite good. I listened to both the UE-10 and UE-11. I thought the UE-10 was good but the UE-11s, while possibly less accurate, were a more interesting listen. I was actually thinking about custom graphics I will be getting on mine on the drive back to NYC. I was really looking forward to hearing the BHSE so I got to that side of the room pretty quickly after Justin got it set up. The sound was as advertised and this amp is by far the best I have heard for the Omega IIs. Very, very good. I really appreciate Dan and the MD/DC/VA people letting me crash the party. It was truly a great group of people to spend the weekend with. -
I am listening to me Omega IIs & Rockhopper KGSS as I type. Cowboy Junkies on 45 rpm Vinyl through this set up is some of the best headphone listening I have ever experienced.
-
Thrice's old Rockhopper KGSS should be waiting for me when I get to my new place up in New Jersey. Should be a worthwhile upgrade over the old 007t that I have been using with the Omega IIs. Pics borrowed from Nate.

You must have been listening to input one which at one time was connected to the Cary via single-ended Nordost Quatro-fil Reference just to show another Omega II owner the difference between single-ended and balanced inputs. Unfortunately someone managed to rip the cable right out of the RCA on one of my Nordosts, walking by I guess. That room was way too cramped and there were way too many people that didn't seem to care about laying headphones down on top of tube amps and wandering off with people's headphones. I had to go find two sets of headphones to pack up at the end of the meet and found one on the floor under the Woo table.

I have gone through most of the indoor antennas and I found that a simple folded dipole provides the best sound. The signal might not read as high as some of the whip antennas but the sound is much better with a dipole. I buy mine at Radio Shack for 5 dollars. I have the Magnum Dynalab whip but I do not use it. You can cut the Radio Shack unit down a bit to get the proper dimensions after you search the web and learn the proper dipole size for picking up the stations you are most interested in. I have never bothered with that. I have never had any luck at all with powered antennas so I steer clear of them as they only seem to amplify the parts of the signal I want to avoid.

My carry 1911 A couple Colt revolvers

That is beautiful. I have a few semi-customs Ed Brown, Nighthawk, etc. but I have not yet made the leap to have a "one off" gun built to my preferences. I hope to change that at some point.
-
I prefer a 1911 to any other semi-auto; however, I have been carrying this set-up alot lately.

Looks like a fiber optic cam to me. For the true audiophile that takes the time to shape their earwax for the best sound dispersion.

COD4 is addictive. My favorite game for the PS3 so far. I went on a Stax shopping spree and got a new Omega II and a used 007t/Lamda Pro set-up. Now I just need to choose an amp for the Omega IIs and begin my wait.
-
I fixed it for you guys.

They look even better in person. The pictures don't really show off the numerous exotic woods used and the great choice of wood. Each of the three perches use a different wood and each inlaid wood strip really plays off the base wood.
-
Yeah, my system is completely different. I had the goal when I started this out to try to sample a broad range of gear to find my preferred system. Right now I am primarily stats but a nice dynamic amp is next on my list.

Yeah I got out of the Headphone game for a year and now I am back and trying to buy everything I haven't had a chance to own yet.

I guess I can make my first post on this board on a picture thread with my home and office stands that SWT61 made for me. You know this place is really like some kind of weird alternative universe that I had heard rumors existed but had never stumbled upon. Good to see a lot of familiar people here. Office: Home:
