  1. Some helpful info. Production Dating
  2. The way I can tell with mine is by looking at the end of the Parker 51 Made in the USA etching on the body and there is a number there T46 meaning it was made in Toronto in 1946. I guess Toronto was part of the US back then.
  3. Have a great one.
  4. RichardsPens.com • Fountain Pens by Richard Binder You can find Binder here for a restoration and he also has written up a nice article on the 51 in his Reference Info section that will help you nail down a time frame. The info will most likely be around the imprint for the 51 Made in USA on the body.
  5. The 51 is well worth restoring as it is a fantastic pen. What vintage is yours?
  6. The vintage specialist at Art Brown International in NYC. Re-frosted the cap added a NOS jewel and rehabbed the vacuumatic internals. It writes and looks like a new pen if not better. There are several specialists in the 51 over at FPN and I believe there is a prominent one down in Florida if I am not mistaken.
  7. Montegrappa Privelege Deco Fountain Pen 1946 Parker 51 complete restored and in beautiful shape for a pen 30 years older than me.
  8. Happy Birthday Colin.
  9. Happy Birthday Steve.
  10. A large part of Dan's home system and a pair of APS 4 Pin balanced K340s to play with. Now I just need to find a Senn headphone to connect to the cables I bought and a four pin XLR extension cable so I don't have to stand next to the rack to listen.
  11. Have a Great Birthday!
  12. I know the EC amp. I was going to buy the Luxman after remember enjoying it when I listened to it at the last NY meet but then I saw that guy on Head-fi that might be backing out of his Balancing Act pre-order and I thought I might be forced to try to get on the list for one of those. It has been so long since I listened to headphones, with the exception of the Omega IIs once in a while, and I am behind the times for headphone amps.
  13. I was just contemplating having one of those sent my way. I got the HP-2s in today and I actually have nothing to plug them in to. I thought I had a Melos in the closet but I must have gotten rid of it at some point. Just looking for a temporary solution while I figure out what single-ended/balanced amp I want to put in the system. I guess you don't have the Luxman yet to compare it to?
  14. Thanks everyone. Al, the eternal salesman. If the Feds didn't expect me to fund all their programs starting this April I might have some more cash to throw around and would definitely pick it up. I do need an amp for 909s HP-2s that are on their way to Jersey now. Couldn't pass that deal up twice. Now back to spinning that vinyl.
  15. Great new MFSL.
  16. Great live album I picked up today.
  17. Reading that album cover I thought for sure that it read "Mouth BARF Blues". I thought it was a drinking song album.
  18. Jack, I have a pair of Odyssey Stratos Mono Extreme SEs hooked up now and find them to be very good for the price. I haven't compared them to my Halcros in this system but I have not been itching to dig out all the gear and buy some speakers to go with my main system since getting these amps. I am running them with a Modwright preamp into Audio Physic Virgo IIIs. They are huge on dynamics but also get the little things right. Much better than the Rogue Audio Stereo 90 that I had hooked up before them. I have not fed them anything that they did not like and I have been very impressed with them in the 6 months I have had them. I have not run them balanced yet but I might have to try it some day. The Odyssey guys will tell you that you have to keep them on 24x7 to sound there best so that is what I do but I am not sure if the improvements I heard were just getting used to the sound or if the big amps need to stay charged.
  19. I am warming up the tuner now to listen to a live in studio performance of the Derek Trucks Band on 90.7 WFUV tonight at 9 EST. One of the best stations in NYC and excellent sound quality with a good tuner. Now I just need to decide whether I hook up one of the Reel-to-Reels and record the performance.
  20. Good catch. I've got Rocky on the brain I guess.
  21. A recent find with some seriously good sound. Recorded in a Bullring in Balboa, Spain. Bob Marley's No Woman, No Cry and Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Rain Coat are especially good on the album.
