  1. You guys are really missing out. One of the better remote videos I have seen.
  2. Nice.
  3. I assume with all these retirements you must be in charge of everything by now Nate. I would like to chat with you about surplus nuclear subs that might be available for a plan I am working out. Put the Walrus Wax on the board and threw it in the kitchen as Kasia decided to keep this one.
  4. Ended up throwing the scrap together for glue up last night and then ran it through the planer this morning. Going to be a 30lb cheese tray I think.
  5. The study seems to just say to me that if you grind something up your whole career and inhale it you may, or may not get cancer. I think you can take out Teak and add anyfuckingthing else and have the same study.
  6. I have to admit, while I have had lincoln logs in the past, I have no fucking idea how to make the blocks back into a log.
  7. Spent most of the day going through scraps trying to find something flat enough to make into a cutting board. Ended up with a Wenge/Teak plan but not sure if I need something brighter in there for pop. Also gave up on the cast iron looking paint technique and put together the cabinet under the saw. Need to buff out the wax but as about as close to cast iron as I could figure out. The leveling feet ended up being boring so when I have access to a welder in Texas I am going to weld some bolts onto some blade wrenches and throw those on there.
  8. That is so fucking cool.
  9. Spent the day trying to finish some additional storage today that will go under the SawStop. Trying to keep it very saw-like with cast iron and black finish but was not able to get the cast iron drawer faces (with leveling feet pulls) on today as I cannot get the finish I want yet.
  10. A mitre saw station with storage seems to be about the best furniture idea for the shop. I have no real stops on my crappy Bosch mitre saw stand and it makes proper cuts much more difficult. What is the extra 4-6” dust extraction tube above the mitre saw for?
  11. I have contemplated some cutting boards for the holidays myself. Need to come up with something to burn through lumber. Freshly planed walnut for the entry cabinet.
  12. Yes. Two 150lb magnet switches so I can take it off and keep the fence so fresh and so clean, clean. Went to the lumber store to get some Baltic Birch for a storage cabinet under the extension wing and the carcass for a MCM bar cabinet/entry cabinet I am building. $187 per sheet means hardwood for the entry cabinet and HD plywood for the saw cabinet. Got enough ambrosia maple for the entry cabinet doors and top which I think will look great with the walnut sides/wings.
  13. The magnetic Canuck is ready for service. I know, I need different screws for the magents, need to pick up some 1” cap screws. I always have a million of the screws I do not need. I have determined that, while you can use dust extraction when the outfeed is folded down, you cannot use the Rockler quick change connection as the handle requires the outfeed be held up a bit, causing clearance issues with the fence.
  14. I really thought I would build an outfeed table/work table but the saw really sets too low to comfortable work at long term so this foldy collection of tubes seems like the best bet for me.
  15. Made it through the first 794 steps of putting the folding outfeed table together. Only 1438 steps left I think. I will say, the upgrade to the big SawStop is massive and well worth the cost.
  16. Fires at night…duh!!!
  17. Nice, ANVIS-6 goggles are ideal for night driving. I need some better night driving skills.
  18. Started gluing up some basic cabinet doors that I hope to be able to spray when it hits 60 degrees here next week.
  19. Walnut
  20. Do they provide sufficient eye protection?
  21. I have them, but then I would not be able to recharge them in the garage so I might need back-ups.
  22. Well, it appears that I am going to have to get power upgrades to the garage after all. This single 15amp circuit to the garage powers the sump pump, all three outlets, all the lights and the garage door opener. If I work in the dark, I might be able to run dust extraction and the saw at the same time.
  23. I was using the 12” from the starrett combo square up to this point as the “straight” edges on my expensive levels proved crooked.
  24. I do not think this either fake or very old NoS woodpecker straight edge is going to blend in with the other tools on my woodpecker wall. I cannot even imagine how it got to be this color but this is the only one I could find locally to finish up the setup on the saw stop.
  25. Yeah, it looks like a decent option for my setup. Still need to come up with some work surface larger than the MFT though. Now that I have watched a video of the eleventy billion steps required to put the SawStop one together; I think building one with storage might be simpler as well.
